"Oceanside's 11" is the second segment of the twenty-seventh episode of the Disney Channel animated series Hailey's On It!
Synopsis[]
Hailey hides proof of her crush on Scott in a book that the school gossip manages to find.
Plot[]
Hailey fantasizes about asking Scott out, in the form of centaurs due to reading Unbridled Passion by Dominique Steele. Hailey wants her first ask out with Scott to be special, though Beta mocks her for her unrealistic expectations and calls her an "overthinker" due to her constantly building up her thoughts over minor plans. With the upcoming 80s themed school dance, Hailey takes the poster and signs a letter to herself, promising to ask Scott out and even notarizes it. She hides the letter in her book and takes off with Scott to see Lil' Rudy. Unaware that she threw her book into a donation box which Patricia takes to the book fair.
Upon returning home, Hailey is shocked that her book is missing. Kai tells her that the books have been donated and Hailey rushes to the book fair to get it back, bringing Scott along by telling him that it is a first edition (which ends up being true). They managed to find the book, as it has a mustard stain resembling Dame Judi Dench, but find that it is in the hands of Blabby Abby, the school gossip columnist whose words affect those she targets. She purchases the book as the first edition contains an extra chapter and refuses to relinquish it to Hailey, believing that she too wants it for the same reason.
Hailey concocts an overly complicated plan to get the book back, accurately predicting Abby's actions. Just as she, Scott, and Beta succeed, Abby reveals that she already saw Hailey's "secret", fanfiction she wrote of herself and the book's protagonist Chase Thunderfoot, and plans to post it online. Hailey is surprised to find that the note she left is no longer in the book. At home, Patricia reveals that she saw the note and removed it before selling it. She tells her that she knows of her crush on Scott and that she should not feel ashamed about it as being in love is a great experience. Hailey thanks her mother for being supportive of her.
