Ahh, the grumpy old oak tree. Like all of Mizrabel's illusion, he was no friend to Mickey.
―The Narrator[src]

The Old Oak Tree is a character from the 1990 video game Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse. It is the boss of the first level in the game.

Description[]

The Old Oak Tree is a sentient log that resides in an oak tree. He has no limbs, but he has a smiling face with green-pupiled, yellow-sclera'ed eyes

Appearances[]

Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse[]

The Old Oak Tree is the first boss to be encountered in this game. When Mickey Mouse enters the arena during his search for the first level's gem, the Old Oak Tree will be seen hidden within an oak tree. After a few seconds, the boss will emerge from his hiding spot, show his face, and begin rolling across his arena, so Mickey must jump over him. Upon reaching the far end of the arena from his tree, the Old Oak Tree will reverse course and must be jumped over again. This causes him to crash into his own tree, dropping acorns across the battlefield. Mickey must avoid the acorns and then stomp on the boss's top side to deal damage. After ten hits, the Old Oak Tree is defeated, giving up his gem.

In the Playstation Remake, the Old Oak Tree's hit point maximum has been reduced to five. He retains his moveset at first, but now becomes dizzy to justify his lack of action upon crashing into his tree, and his turning around is justified due to him hitting the slope used to enter his arena. At three hits or less remaining, he hops across his level to the far side and begins rolling into his own tree from there.
