"Oregon Astray" is the first segment of the 27th episode of The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa.

Synopsis

Timon is taking a nap and a tree suddenly falls on him. Pumbaa comes and tells Timon that he cut down a tree just like a beaver does. Timon gets out of the tree and asks Pumbaa why he did so. Pumbaa tells the meerkat he learned a new philosophy: Makuta Hamaka. After Pumbaa tells Timon that the philosophy means Work Real Hard, Timon gets shocked and tells Pumbaa to tell him that he didn't get a job building a beaver dam. Pumbaa tells him the exact same thing and Timon sighs in relief. However, Pumbaa then tells Timon that he got them both jobs building a beaver dam. Timon screams "no" as the camera rotates above them. Timon and Pumbaa arrive at a dam building. A beaver comes out of the dam and goes to Timon. The beaver introduces himself as Boss Beaver. Pumbaa tells Timon that Boss Beaver taught him all about Makuta Hamaka. Boss Beaver puts white hard hats and buck teeth on Timon and Pumbaa and gives a job to cut down trees.

Timon and Pumbaa are now where there are lots of trees. Timon sees that Boss Beaver is nowhere in sight and suggests that he and Pumbaa take an early lunch hour and then run away and never come back. Pumbaa doesn't accept Timon's suggestion and says he would rather work real hard. Timon tells Pumbaa that they will only work for one day. Timon and Pumbaa start doing the job of cutting down trees. After the work, Pumbaa realizes that Timon was right about working. Timon, in a wheelchair with a big lump on his head, suggests that the two take an extended lunch hour. Boss Beaver stops them and gives the two money. After Timon sees the money, the meerkat becomes a workaholic. Timon cancels the extended lunch hour and starts cutting down more trees. Pumbaa doesn't seem to happy about it. The next day, Pumbaa finds Timon, saying that he's been looking for him all morning. Timon tells Pumbaa that he woke up early to cut down more trees and put them on top of each other and that he polished Boss Beaver's shoes. Boss Beaver shows up with his new shoes and thanks Timon for all the work he's done. The beaver then gives Timon a yellow hard hat and Timon now becomes Pumbaa's boss. Timon tells Pumbaa to address him as "Boss Timon." On the next scene, Timon is sitting at a desk with a chalkboard next to him as if he was in an office. The meerkat is counting the number of trees Pumbaa cut down. After the work, Pumbaa goes to Timon and asks him if they can still have the extended lunch hour, but Timon says that it's not possible with all the work he has to do to make money. Pumbaa then asks him if he could come home for dinner. Timon says that it's possible.

Timon is now in a bathroom working. Boss Beaver opens the door and gives Timon more papers to fill out. Timon tells the beaver that he has to go have dinner with Pumbaa. Boss Beaver tells Timon that he has to fire Pumbaa. At night, Pumbaa is cooking dinner. Timon shows up and opens the pot and sees some bugs ice skating. Timon tells Pumbaa how an amazing cook he is and then tells the warthog that he's fired. Pumbaa tells the meerkat that he has to choose his philosophy: Makuta Hamaka or Hakuna Matata. Timon and Boss Beaver are now at a press and Boss Beaver introduces the dam Timon and Pumbaa built, however, the beaver says that he built the dam. Timon tells Boss Beaver that it was him and Pumbaa who built the dam and asks the beaver why he should get all the credit. Boss Beaver then fires Timon. Then, some water pushes the dam and splashes all over the press. Timon and Boss Beaver go on a grass. Boss Beaver then tells Timon and he built the dam, then Timon tells the beaver that it's too bad he got all the credit and that no one is ever going to vote for him again. Boss Beaver then asks Timon to give him a job and Timon gets an idea.

Timon and Pumbaa are relaxing on sun benches. Boss Beaver is now their waiter and Timon tells him to address him as "Hakuna Matata Timon," and Pumbaa says it's because his name is Timon and he believes in Hakuna Matata.
