"Os Quindins de Yayá" (also known as "Os Quindins de Iaiá") is a song originally written by Ary Barroso, first released in 1941. In Disney media, it was featured in the 1944 animated film The Three Caballeros, where it gained international fame due to Aurora Miranda's performance as Yaya. The song's lyrics are entirely sung in Portuguese. It is also one of the famous songs sung in Brazil.

Plot[]

Throughout the song, Donald Duck and José Carioca travel via train and arrive in the Brazilian city of Salvador, the capital of the state of Bahia (spelled "Baía" in the film). There, they encounter Yaya and various inhabitants of Baía who dance along to the samba beat.

Donald is instantly smitten with Yaya and tries to get her attention, but all the single men trail after her playing instruments. As Yaya sings that her cakes have something nothing else can give a man, she flirts with all of the men. Only a guitar-player, a Malandro, seems unimpressed with her charms. As she flirts with a male orange seller, Donald attempts to knock him out with a mallet provided by José, but misses. As the men dance around Yaya, the guitar-player returns with a flock of beautiful girls, causing the men to suddenly forget Yaya. The others, including José, dance off, leaving Yaya alone. Only Donald remains to present her with some flowers. She gratefully accepts them and kisses Donald, sending him into an animated fantasy sequence in which Yaya leads them all in a dance, two men fight for her attention briefly transforming into fighting cocks, and the streetlamps and buildings all come alive and dance to the music as Yaya leads them down the streets. As the song ends, Donald and José leave the book of Baía to open his next present.
