Doctor Otto Gunther Octavius is a Marvel Comics character who appears in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, set in an alternate universe to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.
He is voiced by Hugh Dancy.
Otto Octavius was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
Background[]
Otto Octavius previously worked at Norman Osborn's company, Oscorp, but got fired by Osborn because of his inventions, which caused tension between both men and he continued to create inventions for supervillains. One of his many inventions were metal tentacles, which he later used against other people.
Role in the series[]
Otto Octavius first appears in the episode "Hitting the Big Time", voiced by Hugh Dancy in more of a cameo role. Otto is then seen again in "The Unicorn Unleashed!", where he is working at a warehouse, working on a design for a criminal and has been working on some tech for her. He mentions how he used to work at Oscorp.
Otto Octavius reappears in the episode "Tangled Web", where he is confronted by the army for his criminal activities. Norman Osborn tracks Octavius for Spider-Man to face, but this backfires in the previous episode, as Peter is severally injured by Scorpion. As Peter recovers, Osborn orders the teenager to not face Octavius so instead he asks Thaddeus Ross to step in, who contacts Iron Man. Otto attacks the army with his newly built metal tentacles, when they try to arrest him, but as he escapes his lair, Iron Man and Ross confront the villain, as he is arrested. In "Hero or Menace", Otto is seen in prison and is visited by Norman Osborn, which angers him even more. Then in the season finale, Otto is seen plotting his escape and has been drawing ideas for advancing his gear.
