Paperino Paperotto (or simplified PP8) is a series of Italian comic stories starring the life and childhood of Donald Duck (known in Italy as "Paperino") and his friends in stories. The comics are published by Disney Italia. Created by Bruno Enna, Diego Fasano and Paola Mulazzi, Young Donald lives in Quacktown, a country village on the outskirts of Duckburg ("Paperopoli" in Italian) in the farm of Grandma Duck with the little goat Billy. This representation of child Donald is easily compatible with versions of other authors, in accordance with the genealogy of Don Rosa. Paperino Paperotto was voiced by Russi Taylor until 2019.

Outside Italy, the Paperino Paperotto incarnation of Donald has seen a series of stories created for the Scandinavian comic books.

History[]

The stories initially appeared exclusively in Italian Topolino "libretto" comic books. Paperino Paperotto's first appearance was the story "Paperino Paperotto e il giorno più duro", arted by Alessandro Barbucci and published in Topolino #2250 (January 12, 1999). Given the success of the Paperino Paperotto stories published in Topolino, it was decided to launch a comic book title completely dedicated to him, PP8 - Paperino Paperotto. Unfortunately, the series had little success and was published from May 2005 to June 2006.

Characters[]

  • Donald Duck (Paolino Paperino): the same characteristics of older Donald but less angry. He has a cheerful, carefree, funny and childlike personality, which cannot be compared with any other Disney character. His imagination takes him on all kinds of crazy adventures. To him, country life is a game that constantly changes from the schoolyard to the countryside to explore, without being aware of the surrounding reality.

  • Louis Cromb: a very thoughtful and introverted duckling, who loves science and science fiction magazines. He's the best childhood friend of Donald Duck. He is a science fiction enthusiast, and an avid reader of Amazing Papers (a parody of Amazing Stories with its title derived from the Italian "papero", an informal term used in Disney comics for "duck", completely unrelated to the English "paper").
  • Betty Lou: a very pampered and sophisticated girl duck, who is initially rejected by Tom and Donald, but in the end, is accepted into the group.
  • Tom Lovett: the neighbor of Donald Duck, madly in love with Betty Lou. Sometimes he and Donald were enemies, but through their rivalry was born a deep friendship.
  • Miss Witchcraft: Donald and the other kids' teacher, debuting in the story "Paperino Paperotto e la strega di Quack Town", from Topolino #2292 (2 November 1999), in which Donald and his friends mistakenly believe her to be a witch, automatically identifying her as a threat and an enemy, but later discover their mistake and develop a friendly relationship with her.
  • Gladstone Gander (Gastone Paperone): Donald's cousin, who sometimes visits him and participates in the group.
