"Party Planning" is the first segment of the seventh episode of The Weekenders. It premiered on April 22, 2000 alongside "Pudding Ball".

Synopsis[]

Tino, Carver, Lor and Tish get invited to a party. It turns out to be clownless and they have to know each other's gender.

Plot[]

Friday[]

After school, Tino gets a letter from classmate Dot Cardigan concerning himself and Carver. After debating about it, they realize that it is an invitation to a "boy/girl party", which for Tino means is a clownless, something he cannot comprehend. Carver gets his invitation as Tish and Lor reveal that they were also invited. The two girls claim that boy/girl social gatherings are their forte and even recommend that they teach them how to appropriately act which the boys agree to. At the pizza place, the girls warn them about Lateral Gravity Syndrome (LGS), the invisible feeling of genders separating to opposite ends of a room and try to avoid it.

Saturday[]

Tish and Lor put Tino and Carver through a series of trials to train them on how to behave. To get them to avoid distractions, they take them to Funville, but they are forced to be tied down after they quickly fail at this. The girls tell them that women like to be social and that they need to say something meaningful to them and keep eye contact at all times. They further add that if fake laughing at something that is remotely funny doesn't work, that they can always ask if they want anymore punch. Later they attempt to teach dancing, but Tish only knows how to do classical dancing, much to Lor, Carver, and Tino's confusion.

Sunday[]

Tish and Lor finally show Carver and Tino an old movie showcasing, what they perceive to be, the ideal man, which Tino equates to guys who are "mysterious, dangerous, lost puppies". The boys quickly come to the realization that the girls are just as blank about social gatherings as they are and that they in turn do not know anything about what boys like. Having turned the tables on them, the boys tell the girls that they like women who display a lack of knowledge about things that in turn make them look smarter by comparison. They perform scrimmage and throw what they have learned together, but this only creates pandemonium.

As Tino gets ready for the party, his mother comes in and deduces that he is facing the issue of socializing at a boy/girl party. She points out that he and Carver like to hang out with Lor and Tish all the time and that they like him for who he is. He agrees and later he and Carver go to pick up Tish and Lor where they admit that they do not need to change themselves and decide to go without any kind of preparation. While the gang is excited upon reaching the party, they unfortunately fall to LGS. Nevertheless, they admit that they enjoyed the party and that hopefully they can avoid LGS next time.
