Patrick Wayne Swayze was an American actor, dancer, and singer-songwriter, who was best known for his roles as Johnny Castle in the 1987 romance film Dirty Dancing and as Sam Wheat in the 1990 romantic fantasy film Ghost.

For Disney, in 1995, he played the role of Pecos Bill in Disney's Tall Tale. He also voiced Cash in the 2006 Disney direct-to-DVD film The Fox and the Hound 2. For Hollywood Pictures, he played Jack Charles in Father Hood. Additionally for Miramax, he played Roy Kirkendall in Waking Up in Reno. A statue of him was erected in Lupkin Park in the Pepper Ann episode "Beyond Good and Evel". In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Star-Lord calls himself Patrick Swayze in order to interact with Ura. His father's side is Scottish and English ancestry, his mother is of Scottish, German, Welsh and Dutch ancestry.

Swayze died of pancreatic cancer on September 14, 2009, at the age of 57. He was cremated and his ashes scattered over his New Mexico ranch. He is survived by his widow Lisa Niemi, along with his mother, both of his brothers, and one sister.
