Patti Ann LuPone is an American three-time Tony Award winning actress and two-time Grammy winning singer, best known for her work in musical theater. For Disney, she provided the voice of Nanpire in Vampirina and portrayed Lilia Calderu in the 2024 Disney+ series Agatha All Along. She also appeared in the Touchstone Pictures thriller Summer of Sam.
LuPone was born in Northport, New York, on Long Island. LuPone was part of the first graduating class of Juilliard's Drama Division (1972) which also included actors Kevin Kline and David Ogden Stiers, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. LuPone has a mezzo-soprano vocal range, and she is known for her strong/high "Broadway" belt singing voice. She would gain leading roles in Broadway and West End musical productions, such as Three Sisters, The Beggar's Opera, The Robber Bridegroom, The Time of Your Life, The Baker's Wife, Working, Evita, Oliver!, The Cradle Will Rock, Les Misérables, Anything Goes, Company, Sunset Boulevard, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Gypsy, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and War Paint. She also appeared in plays, such as Measure for Measure, The Water Engine, Noises Off, The Anarchist, and The Roommate.
Aside from her stage work, LuPone has also appeared films, such as 1941, Witness, Driving Miss Daisy, State and Main, The Comedian, Last Christmas, and Beau Is Afraid. Her television credits include the drama series Life Goes On (1989–1993) and guest appearances on Frasier, American Horror Story, Touched by an Angel, Will & Grace, Ugly Betty, 30 Rock, Glee, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Penny Dreadful, Steven Universe, The Simpsons, Pose, and Hollywood.
