Paul Dooley is an American actor, voice actor, writer, and comedian. His Disney roles include voicing Sarge in the Disney/Pixar Cars franchise, Hank the Janitor/Mall Santa in Recess Christmas: Miracle on Third Street, and playing J. Wellington Wimpy in the 1980 Disney/Paramount co-produced film Popeye, Coach Buck in Angels in the Endzone, Addison Prudy in Desperate Housewives, a hot dog vendor in Bedtime Stories, Big Chuck in My Boyfriend's Back, Senator Thatch in the 1995 remake of The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, and Uncle Monty in Bizaardvark.

Early life and career[]

Dooley was born Paul Brown on February 22, 1928, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and as a youth, and drew a strip for a local paper. In 1946, he joined the United States Navy and served for two years before then returning home and graduating from West Virginia University in 1952. Later, he went to New York City to try his luck in the entertainment industry. He initially found work as a clown for children's birthday parties. On stage, he was part of the original cast of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. Primarily a character actor, Dooley appeared in films, such as A Wedding, Death Wish, Raggedy Ann & Andy: A Musical Adventure, Monster in the Closet, Health, Breaking Away, Sixteen Candles, Strange Brew, Going Berserk, A Dangerous Woman, Runaway Bride, Come Away Home, Madison, For Your Consideration, Hairspray, Turbo, and the director's cut of Little Shop of Horrors.

Dooley has also appeared as a variety of television shows, including My So-Called Life, Dream On, Grace Under Fire, thirtysomething, Curb Your Enthusiasm, ALF, Chicago Hope, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Bewitched, The Wonder Years, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, The Golden Girls, Hot in Cleveland, Coming of Age, The Practice, Huge, Parenthood, The Good Doctor, Get Smart, Sesame Street, Captain Kangaroo, Coach, Batman: The Animated Series, Tales from the Crypt, L.A. Law, ER, Ellen, Ally McBeal, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, 7th Heaven, Boston Legal, Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs, Criminal Minds, Young & Hungry, Shameless, The Kids Are Alright, and Modern Family. As well as acting and performing comedy, Dooley helped to create the children's show The Electric Company and formed a company with Andrew Duncan and Lynne Lipton called All Over Creation to create commercials for radio and television.
