Paul Allen Wood Shaffer, CM is a Canadian bandleader, musician, singer, composer, actor, voice actor, author, comedian, and multi-instrumentalist. He is known for serving as musical director on Saturday Night Live and David Letterman's musical director, band leader, and sidekick on the entire run of both Late Night with David Letterman (1982–1993), and Late Show with David Letterman (1993–2015).

For Disney, he voiced Hermes in the 1997 Disney animated feature film Hercules and reprised the role in the TV series based on it, as well as House of Mouse.
