Pearl Pangan is a Marvel Comics character who appears in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and is the childhood crush and former babysitter to Peter Parker.
Pearl Pangan was created by Greg Pak and Gang Hyuk Lim.
Background[]
Pearl was born in the Philippines, before moving to the United States, where she grew up near Peter Parker in New York and was often hired to babysit him, as she was 3 years older than him. During this time, Peter developed a crush on Pearl, which resurfaced when he got transferred to her school for Freshman year.
Role in the series[]
Pearl first appears in the first episode when Peter Parker is forced to transfer from Midtown High to Rockford T. Bales high school along with other freshmen. Peter sees Pearl for the first time in years and comments to his friend Nico Minoru that Pearl used to babysit him and that he had a crush on Pearl, even though she is 3 years older than him. Nico encourages Peter to ask Pearl out, but when he finally works up enough courage, he finds out she is dating Lonnie Lincoln, Peter's lab partner and friend. After Lonnie willingly joins a gang to save his brother, Pearl becomes suspicious of him as he is keeping secrets from her, but assures her boyfriend that he can speak to her if he ever needs anything. Pearl finds out about Lonnie's secret business with the 110 when they are attacked by the Scorpion.
In "Tangled Web", Pearl and Peter work on their science project together when Lonnie shows up after the recent events. Pearl breaks up with Lonnie as he won't back out of the 110 and supports their business, as they helped him. In the last two episodes of the season, Pearl and Peter present their project they made for class and bond.

- In the comics, Pearl Pangan is a member of the Agents of Atlas known as the superheroine Wave from the Philippines.
- This is her first animated appearance.
- It's revealed in "Tangled Web", that Pearl is from the Philippines.
- She is the first love interest of Peter Parker to not any variant of Mary Jane Watson.
