- “Now, a formula to transform my beauty into ugliness. Change my queenly raiment to a peddler's cloak.”
- ―The Evil Queen[src]
The Peddler's Disguise is a potion used by The Evil Queen to disguise herself as an old and ugly peddler in order to trick and do away with her stepdaughter, Snow White in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
History[]
The Peddler's disguise allows the drinker to disguise themself as an old peddler and become completely unrecognizable. The recipe is found in a spellbook labeled Disguises, stored within the Laboratory in the The Queen's Castle.
The Evil Queen brews and drinks this potion to transform herself into an old peddler, in order to approach her stepdaughter, Snow White and do away with her by making her take a bite from the Poisoned Apple. The potion's effect seems to be painful for the drinker, as the Evil Queen gasped and seemed to have trouble breathing, clutching her throat right after drinking it.
Recipe[]
"Mummy dust to make me old. To shroud my clothes, the black of night. To age my voice, an old hag's cackle. To whiten my hair, a scream of fright. A blast of wind, to fan my hate. A thunderbolt to mix it well. Now begin thy magic spell."
Trivia[]
- When the Evil Queen adds 'An old Hag's cackle' the cackle heard belongs to her disguised form.
- In the original story the Evil Queen doesn't transform herself with a potion, she simply 'paints her face'.
- In the 1937 film, the Evil Queen was only seen interacting with Snow White onscreen in her disguised form.
- It is unknown how the Evil Queen got some of the ingredients for the potion.
- In the original film, the Queen remains in her witch form for the rest of the movie after the transformation, while in the remake she later changes back.
- In the DVD game, Dopey's Wild Mine Ride, the Magic Mirror asked a trivia question about which ingredient in the potion made make the queen old. He showed an hourglass and the queen's Raven as two wrong answers and mentioned all the other ingredients except a thunderbolt and blast of wind.
