Behind the scenes

Pellucidar is based on the location from various Edgar Rice Burroughs books, with the Legend of Tarzan episodes taking inspiration from the comic, Tarzan at the Earth's Core and Tarzan vs. Predator: At the Earth's Core, a comic crossover with this and the movie, Predator, which are both made by Dark Horse Comics. The location is far more elaborate within the books, with a population of cavemen and other prehistoric beings living amongst the dinosaurs.
