"Pen Pals" is the first segment of the seventy-seventh episode of Big City Greens.
Synopsis[]
Tilly and Andromeda exchange letters that reveal their unique outlooks on the world.
Plot[]
Tilly misses Andromeda and decides to write her a letter after "conversing" with the trees in the woods. Andromeda writes back about what she has been up to, revealing that she is a volunteer at the Museum of Cryptozoology, a job which she takes seriously and which the employees find annoying. She encounters Kiki, Weezie and Benny and tries to inform them about the Goat Girl, but when they find it weird, Andromeda gets angry and is kicked out by one of the employees. Andromeda finds that Tilly is the only person that relates to her and ends her letter by revealing that her mom has signed her up for piano lessons, of which she is a "really fast learner".
Tilly responds by regaling a moment where her family planned to kill the dandelions, her favorite flower, and she stood up to Bill by refusing to have them cut. Cricket and Remy join in due to the rebellious theme while Nancy joins out of honor and Gramma Alice joins just to yell. While Tilly succeeded, the dandelions still died due to the frost, but she saved the seeds and sends them to Andromeda. Andromeda heads about town trying to plant them and performs a series of other acts that she finds empowering. However, Andromeda begins to feel that despite Big City having so many people, it feels empty to her due to Tilly not being there.
Tilly begins to feel sad over the last letter and heads into the woods to talk to the trees again. After witnessing two birds communicate from across the branches with one another, Tilly finally gets inspiration. She writes another letter and sends it to Andromeda who discovers that it is a song and proceeds to play it on her piano. The song, co-sung across by the two girls, has the two realize that despite their far distance away from each other, the two of them will always be friends. After the song is over, Tilly and Andromeda sit down and proceed to write another letter to one another.
