Peter Sellers, CBE was an English film actor, comedian, and singer. He was best known for his role as Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau in The Pink Panther film series, three different characters in Dr. Strangelove, as Clare Quilty in Lolita, and as the TV-addicted man-child Chance the gardener in his penultimate film, Being There. Although he never had any Disney roles, he appeared on The Muppet Show in episode 219. He was considered for the role as Bert in Mary Poppins and Professor Emelius Browne in Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Gore Verbinski jokes that Sellers was his second choice to play Hector Barbossa in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (after Alec Guinness), before settling with Geoffrey Rush.
