"Pharaoh Bob" is the second segment of the twenty-first episode of Recess.
Synopsis[]
King Bob orders the Kids of the Playground to make a monument in his name when he fears he will not be remembered after he leaves.
Plot[]
The kids are watching two other kids fighting when one of them pulls a fake out. King Bob is offended by this and mentions King Wally had banned such a thing. None of the kids know who that is and when he further tries to remind them of King Al and King Chuck, no one can remember them either. His guards assure him that he is great, but he becomes bothered that no one will remember him. In class, King Bob's teacher gives a lesson on the Egyptians and the pyramids which they had built as idols. Inspired, King Bob decides to recreate a pyramid for the playground and hires Gretchen to help lead the construction, settling on mud as a means to build it.
All the children on the playground are forced to work for King Bob and build the pyramid, but when T.J. suggests to the other kids that they should take a break and play, King Bob catches them and forces them to work even harder. He further insists that he be called Pharaoh Bob and that everyone unquestionably do what he says. This apparently extends to Gretchen who chastises the Gang for not following along with Pharaoh Bob's plan and insists that they are against him.
After Gus is threatened by a sixth grader, T.J. finally takes a stand and convinces all the kids to finally stand up to Pharaoh Bob. A mud fight breaks out with Gretchen switching sides to help her friends. Just then, it begins to rain and the pyramid begins to melt, something that Gretchen had warned Pharaoh Bob about, leaving him devastated. Back to being King Bob, he feels remorse for his actions, but fears that no one will listen to him again. Gretchen gives him words of encouragement and he makes a heartfelt apology to all the kids, winning them over after promising to repeal the gum tax.
