The Plaza Swan Boats was a Magic Kingdom attraction that took guests on a tour around the moat of the hub with a brief stop in Adventureland to circle the Swiss Family Treehouse.

History[]

In 1972, during early development of the attraction, Imagineer Marc Davis produced sketches for a series of topiaries based on nursery rhymes to be installed on the banks of the moat to give guests something to see, though none of these were implemented.

The Plaza Swan Boats operated from May 20, 1973 to August 1983. Originally, the fleet consisted of twelve boats, with one being repurposed later for cleaning the canals. Plagued by maintenance issues with their natural gas engines and guidance systems, the fleet was reduced to five by the time the attraction shut down. One Swan Boat, the Snow White, is known to survive in a private collection, with a restoration project that reunited the boat with a surviving swan figurehead owned by another collector starting in 2017.[1]
