Pluto and the Armadillo is a 1943 animated short, starring Mickey Mouse and Pluto.
Plot
Mickey and Pluto arrive in South America. While there, Mickey throws Pluto's ball and Pluto goes after it. While looking for it, Pluto mistakes the ball for an armadillo that has just rolled itself up. Eventually, Pluto makes friends with the armadillo and chases him through a cave. After a while, Pluto mistakes the ball for the armadillo and thinks he's ripped it up until the armadillo reappears unharmed.

Trivia
- This cartoon marks the final appearance of Mickey in his trademark red button-down shorts during his cartoon series' original theatrical run. The shorts would not be seen again in animation until Mickey's 60th Birthday in 1988.
- This cartoon was inspired by the Disney artists' goodwill tour of Latin America and was originally set to be included in Saludos Amigos accompanied by a live-action segment on a Brazilian zoo. Some footage of an animator drawing the armadillo, as well as a pencil test of the armadillo's walk, is featured in the documentary South of the Border with Disney.
