"Poetry Day" is the second segment of the thirteenth episode of Vampirina. It premiered on November 17, 2017 alongside "Batty Fever".
Plot[]
In school, Mr. Gore tells the class that tomorrow is Poetry Day, which is when students select a poem to perform for the class. Vampirina has Mr. Gore and her poem is called "Eyeballs Under My Bed". She then recites the poem when Mr. Gore tells her to not spoil it. He tells the class how nicely Vampirina read her poem. He wants everyone to perform with that kind of joie de vivre when the class ends. Poppy and Bridget like Vampirina's poem, which is very creepy. Poppy's poem is about a butterfly that soars into the sky and learns to fly. Bridget doesn't have a poem yet, as she is scared to say a poem out loud, in front of the whole class. Vampirina tells Bridget that she can come to her house and she will help her. Vampirina has lots of poetry books. She and Bridget will practice, and by tomorrow, Bridget will be a poetry star.
In the Scare B&B, Vampirina shows that her poetry books are divided into three categories: spooky, scary, and screamy. This scares Bridget, who wonders if she has something regular. Demi appears and is told by Vampirina about Bridget finding a poem for Poetry Day. Vampirina sings a song about the different books mentioned, and Demi joins in. Bridget states that there is no way she will read any of the books, as they fill her with dismay. She then decides to read a book called "Charming Words". Vampirina doesn't remember it, but the first poem is about spinning cups. Bridget likes it, and she and Vampirina do a warm-up so they can relax.
Bridget then recites the poem, which triggers the cups that shatter on the ground. Oxana and Boris notice this and also see more cups crashing to the ground. Bridget is still doing great, although she is nervous. She then decides to read a poem about a thunderstorm, and after Demi mentions it, she puts one foot in the air to keep her mind off being nervous. As Bridget recites the poem, thunder sounds. Vampirina says that it's not raining inside, but it is to Oxana and Boris, who decide to figure out what's going on. Bridget is still nervous, but is given the book by Vampirina and decides to find other people to practice for, like Poppy and Edgar.
Vampirina wonders why it is so wet in Oxana and Boris' room and why the cups are on the floor. She mentions that she and Bridget were upstairs reading poems, and Demi mentions the poems. Vampirina recites it and the cups do the same thing. She mentions the poem about thunder flashing and rain pouring in the living room. Boris says that those weren't poems, those were spells. Bridget then reads the poems to Poppy, Edgar, and Edna. Vampirina and Demi decide to get the book back.
As Bridget reads a poem about flowers, Vampirina and Demi notice the flowers floating and causing mischief. Bridget rejects talking to Vampirina for a quick moment, and recites a poem about a giant frog here to stay, and hopping all day. Edna notices it, and Vampirina hides the mischief, stating that she was so inspired by the poem. Edna says that that sounds like a really big frog, which would be totally awesome for Edgar. The frog then appears, and Poppy tells Edna to get a glass of water, as Bridget as a cough.
Vampirina says that the big frog is a big story, and Demi explains everything. Vampirina didn't know it was a book of spells, and with Edna and Edgar approaching, Vampirina decides for Bridget to keep reading; if she finishes the poem, the spell will end and it will make the frog go away. Bridget then continues the poem, and states that in the end, the frog will flee, and it does. Bridget read the poem perfectly, and she wasn't nervous at all, as she was too busy watching Vampirina and Demi chase the giant frog. If Bridget focuses on something else, she'll forget about being nervous. Vampirina knows another way to keep Bridget distracted, and decides to get another poem, one without spell books.
The next day at school, Bridget reads a poem called "A Starfish At Sea". She recites the poem while watching Demi show off his moves. Demi congratulates Bridget out loud but quickly hides. Vampirina says that that was the best poem ever.
