Poseidon's Tomb is a location from the 2017 Disney live-action film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Background[]
Located in the Caribbean Sea, Poseidon's Tomb was the supposed final resting place of Poseidon, the god of the sea, although whether Poseidon was actually buried or not in this area is unknown. The tomb was located between the ocean whose entrance was on the black rock island. Amongst the artifacts found within is the Trident of Poseidon, an artifact which Armando Salazar has been in possession with in a plan to take revenge against Captain Jack Sparrow.
Role in the film[]
When the Black Pearl set sail for the black rock island, Jack Sparrow, Carina Smyth, and Hector Barbossa travelled through the place where the Trident of Poseidon would be located. After Carina placed the last piece of the ruby in its place, the sea began to divide and soon spread to the island, resulting Jack and Carina to fall into a gap where the tomb was revealed and what they found in this area was the Trident located in the tomb.
Following the race to the island, Armando Salazar and his undead crew became in possession of the Trident, while Henry and Carina suddenly notice Salazar who is holding the Trident planning to kill Jack in the tomb just as Salazar threatens to kill him with this and as Carina approaches Henry Turner who was knocked unconscious, he began to utter the words "The power of the sea"; Carina then says the line, "To release the power of the sea, all must divide", which she realizes that there is a curse inside the Trident. Just as Salazar prepares to finish off Jack by killing him with the Trident, Henry and Carina plan to break the Trident to which as Henry manages to break it, this results all the curses being broken, causing Salazar and his undead crew to revert to their mortal forms. However, just as the seas begin to close, Jack, Carina, and Henry see Barbossa getting back onto the Pearl with help from his crew. As Salazar and his crew are climbing back onto the ship using the anchor, they began to attack the three in an attempt to kill Jack. However, only Salazar and two crewmen managed to grab onto the chain, resulting in Lesaro and many other crewmen to be engulfed by the raging sea.
However, the capstan the crew of the Pearl was using suddenly breaks, resulting the chain and anchor to lower down. As Carina is about to fall to her death, her father Barbossa rescues her while Salazar is preparing to kill Jack. Barbossa sacrifices himself to save his daughter by striking Salazar, causing him to fall to his death, followed by Barbossa falling to the seas, resulting in the latter to also be killed by the closing seas. In the aftermath, Jack and his crew mourn Barbossa's death for his sacrifice he did to save the crew of the Pearl as Carina then takes her father's place. Following the destruction of the Trident, all the curses of the Seven Seas were broken just as Henry reunites with his father Will Turner and his mother Elizabeth Swann and later Jack Sparrow retaining his duty as the captain of the Black Pearl.
Although the destruction of the Trident broke all curses, the destruction seemingly revived Davy Jones, the captain of the Flying Dutchman who was killed in the battle of Calypso's Maelstrom. Following this, trouble seems to occur in the Caribbean once more.
