"Previously On" is the eighth episode of the Disney+ streaming television series, WandaVision and was released on February 26, 2021. It was written by Laura Donney directed by Matt Shakman.
Synopsis
Wanda embarks on a troubling journey revisiting her past for insight into her present and future.
Plot
In Salem in 1693, Agatha Harkness is put on trial by her own coven for practicing dark magic. As they attempt to execute her, her newfound abilities allow her to absorb the life out of her whole coven including her mother. Back in the present, Agatha explains to Wanda that she has her children held captive and wants to know what her secret is for the Hex and the things happening in Westview. She further reveals that the fake Pietro, or "Fietro", was her doing, but Wanda still is not sure how she changed Westview. Agatha takes a strand of her hair and creates a doorway to her memories.
Wanda and Pietro lived in war torn Sokovia with their loving parents and would watch classic sitcoms on DVD for entertainment and to learn english. While watching The Dick Van Dyke Show, their apartment is bombed; killing their parents while Wanda and Pietro hide under the bed from a Stark missile that does not blow up. Agatha believes that Wanda used a probability spell to keep the bomb from exploding, but Wanda is unsure. Later, they see Wanda volunteering for Hydra where she interacts with the Mind Stone for the first time. Agatha realizes that it helped strengthen her abilities.
Wanda is now living at the Avengers Compound. While watching Malcolm in the Middle, Vision visits her and the two bond over their shared love over the concept of humor, thus setting the seeds for their relationship. Agatha then has Wanda relive her venture to the S.W.O.R.D. base to see Vision's body. She meets with Hayward who reveals that they are taking his body apart as he is considered a weapon. While Wanda examines the body, she admits that she does not feel him and leaves dejected along with a folder left in her car.
Wanda drives back to her home in Westview, where her neighbors look miserable. While examining a note left by Vision, she breaks down and unleashes a whirlwind of magic that encases all Westview in the Hex. Wanda's magic also recreates Vision, who comes out from inside Wanda's body and manifests himself in the new reality, allowing her to live a happy sitcom life with him. Agatha realizes who Wanda actually is and disappears. Hearing her children cry for help, Wanda rushes outside and discovers Agatha holding them hostage. She tells her that she is using chaos magic and is very dangerous before announcing that she is the Scarlet Witch.
In a mid-credits scene, Director Hayward unleashes his weapon, which is a white version of Vision rebuilt from the remains of his body.
