"Princess Problems" is a song from Disney's 2025 live-action remake of Snow White. It was written by composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and performed by Andrew Burnap as Jonathan and Rachel Zegler as Snow White.
In the song, Jonathan and Snow White express their differences in their views on life and discussing the state of the kingdom under the rule of the Evil Queen during their encounter in the forest.
Lyrics[]
Jonathan:
Times are lookin' bleak
So, Princess, take a peek
See, every day it's sink or swim
Famine's on the rise
With vultures circling the skies
And prospects, well, they're rather grim
Let me break you the news
The odds can't be beaten
And a man's gotta choose
Will he eat or get eaten?
Does that dampen your day? Do the facts make you frown?
Wakin' up to the real world is bringin' you down?
Well, that sounds an awful lot like princess problems
Finally learnin' that life's not fair
Seems to me you got some princess problems
Ain't it crummy when folks won't share?
I could try being "kind" or whatever you said
It's just that I'm partial to not being dead
So I'm stickin' to my plan
Of grabbin' all I can
'Stead of living in a fantasy
See, your princess problems don't apply to me
Snow White: Charming speech, but are you done?
"None for all and all for none"
Such a gift of hope you give!
Jonathan: Yeah, well, hope's in short supply
Snow White: But, still, we have to try
Jonathan: Well, how about we try to live?
Snow White: So that's it? You give in?
Jonathan: Nah, you begin to get wise
'Cause you can't fix the world baking apple pies
Yeah, we got a classic case of princess problems
The castle's cozy but it's cold outside
Snow White: Sure, just write 'em off as princess problems
And stayin' selfish is justified
Jonathan: That was harsh, but I'm proud
Look at you, getting mean
Snow White: Look, the kingdom needs help
Jonathan: You should go tell the Queen
But I'm stayin' on the run
Lookin' out for number one
And that's the way it's gonna be
'Cause your princess problems don't apply to me
They don't apply to me
You seem a lovely gal
With your royal rationale
But out here in reality
See, your princess problems don't apply to me
They don't apply to me
Trivia[]
- The song seems to be the replacement for "One Song" from the original 1937 animated film, although "A Hand Meets a Hand" could also be the replacement.
- Jonathan actually foreshadows Snow White's death-sleep in the song, when he lies down on a rock while holding a flower across his chest. However, when Snow is laid, she does not hold a flower, but she is lying on a rock, instead of in a glass coffin.
- This is the third original song for a Disney prince in live action, after "Evermore" from Beauty and the Beast (2017) and "Wild Uncharted Waters" from The Little Mermaid (2023).
- The lyrics "you can't fix the world baking apple pies", appears to be a reference to the original film, when Snow White made an apple pie in the Dwarfs' cottage.
