The Protoplasmic Growth Ray is a device invented by Jumba Jookiba that is designed to resize things. It was seen in the Lilo & Stitch: The Series episode "Shortstuff".
Background[]
In "Shortstuff", the ray was used to enlarge Stitch, who wanted to be bigger than his normal size after he was mocked for his size and unable go on any carnival rides. When his humongous size became a problem for Stitch, Pleakley later attempted to shrink Stitch back to his normal size. However, due to interference from Experiment 297 (Shortstuff), the ray enlarged Shortstuff as well. Jumba later shrunk Stitch back to his normal, functional size with the ray so he could defeat Shortstuff when the latter went on a rampage at the carnival. Meanwhile, Gantu managed to get a hold of Jumba's ray and used it to enlarge Reuben into a behemoth. He then demanded the gigantic Reuben to crush Lilo's ʻohana and nab the experiment. Instead of following Gantu's orders, Reuben plodded over to the enormous submarine sandwich that he noticed earlier and began devouring it hungrily while sitting on top of a humiliated Gantu.
The ray reappears in "Slick" when Experiment 020 (Slick) is seen holding it at one point, telling Jumba that he would love to sell all of the genius scientist's lab equipment, only for Jumba to swipe it away, telling 020 that "[he] bet [he] would." Jumba's concerns are later confirmed when Lilo and Stitch find that the ray was sold to two locals, alongside all the other items in the Pelekai residence to others in Kokaua Town. Lilo and Stitch would later get all the items back, presumably including the ray, and refund all the customers.
