RX-24, or Rex, is an RX pilot droid for Star Tours, and is a pilot of a StarSpeeder 3000. In the attraction, it is always his "first flight," explaining his erratic flying "skills." He is voiced by Paul Reubens, better known as Pee-Wee Herman.
Rex's poor flight skills may be due to a transparent red ribbon hanging from his body, reading, "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT."
Rex appears as the main protagonist in the original Star Tours attraction, and appears in the queue of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue whilst C-3PO is the new captain.
Behind the scenes
Rex was originally conceived as a broken down and deranged droid left over from the Clone Wars named "Crazy Harry". However, wanting to have a less disturbing character, they changed his character to being an inexperienced rookie.
