Raava is a Marvel Comics character who debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Disney+ show Secret Invasion. She is a Skrull who was ordered by Gravik to assume the identity of James Rhodes in order to influence the decisions of Ritson, who was the President of the United States.

Raava was created by Saladin Ahmed and Christian Ward.

Background[]

At some point during the Kree-Skrull war, Raava immigrated to Earth most likely via spaceship, and later joined the Skrull Resistance, led by Gravik. At an undisclosed time, she was ordered by Gravik to impersonate James Rhodes to get close to Ritson, the President of the United States, and influence his decisions in order to start World War III, which would extinct the human race and make Earth the Skrulls's new planet.

Physical appearance[]

While in her Skrull form, Raava looks like a typical Skrull with feminine features and purple blotches on her neck, cheeks, and scalp. While taking on the appearance of James Rhodes, she looks like him and mostly wears a jet-black suit.

After impersonating Rhodes, Raava was soon informed that Nick Fury had left space to come back to Earth and received an encrypted message sent by Maria Hill to Nick Fury. After telling Ritson, Ritson was quite annoyed and said that his work there was critical to the United States. Raava was then asked by Ritson to deal with the situation.

Soon after, Raava attended a world leader meeting in place for Ritson after the group Americans Against Russia allegedly caused a terrorist attack in Russia's Vossoyedineniye Square. Raava, as Rhodes, was asked about Nicky Fury and Maria Hill's involvement in the attack, as they were both allegedly present during it and AWOL. France's leader asked her if the photographs showing Hill and Fury were sufficient evidence to arrest or fire them, though Raava questioned the authenticity images, stating they came from Russia.

While leaving the meeting, Raava received a call from Fury and complained that Fury had made a mess in Russia. The two then agreed to talk face-to-face at Burner's Tavern.

At Burner's Tavern, Raava brought up that Fury could be arrested, and that he should be worried. Fury also brought up the subject of Skrulls and told Raava that they were invading Earth. Raava suggested they call the Avengers, though Fury said that it would not work, due to the risk of them being impersonated by Skrulls. Raava then told Fury he had been fired from his job at the United States government.

Later, Raava, under orders from Gravik, told Varra, a Skrull who is Nick Fury's wife, to retrieve a gun from a deposit box from a bank.

The two met an hour later at a church, where Raava informed Varra that Fury had been fired from his position at the United States government and told her to kill Fury. Varra was reluctant to do so and tried to convince Raava that he was not a threat to their plan, though her efforts were in vain.

After she met with Varra, Raava returned to Rhodes's apartment, and after taking a shower, she was shocked to see Fury, who had at some time broken into the apartment. Confused as to why he was there, Raava asked him about it, and Fury responded by saying that he hadn't liked how things ended during their heated meeting at Burner's Tavern. Fury then offered Raava a drink. Fury told her he had discovered that Skrulls were infiltrating the United States government, though he told Raava he wouldn't mention it to anyone if he got his job back. She then showed him footage of Gravik shooting Maria Hill while disguised as Fury and told him that if he told anyone about the Skrulls, she would release the video.

After the Americans Against Russia attack, Ritson traveled to England to negotiate with Russia, a trip that Raava came along, still disguised as Rhodes. However, Raava had been informed beforehand that there would be an assassination attempt on Ritson by Gravik and his Skrull army.

Ritson was escorted by a motorcade, when suddenly, as they were passing through the English countryside, the United States's motorcade was attacked by a missile by the Skrulls, who were disguised as Russians to make it seem like Russia was the one behind the attack. While the events were unfolding, Raava patiently waited in her car.

Raava soon discovered that the assassination attempt had been unsuccessful, though the president had been wounded and would be going into surgery. Originally, Raava was ordered to kill Ritson while he was in the hospital, though Gravik told her to keep Ritson alive, and for her to convince Ritson that the Skrulls and Russia were working together, in order to gain leverage against Nick Fury and obtain the Harvest.

After finding out the location of Ritson, Raava ordered the hospital to be locked down to protect him. Suddenly, Nick Fury burst into the hospital and shoved Raava into a wall while holding a gun to her neck. Knowing that Raava was a Skrull, Raava told Fury that the only way she would be outed as a Skrull was if he killed her, which she knew Fury would not do. She then told him that she had leaked the video of Gravik disguised as him shooting Maria Hill. Fury then went to leave, though before he could exit, Raava told Fury he would be killed if he tried to come near the president.

After Ritson was out of surgery, Raava informed Gravik, and Gravik told her to try to convince Ritson to launch a strike on New Skrullos.

Raava then went into Ritson's hospital room and told him that Russia and the Skrulls were working together. She then suggested Ritson launch a strike on the Skrulls's compound, New Skrullos, located in Russia. Ritson was unsure, as an attack on Russia would mean World War III. Raava then told him she would rather face World War III than the extinction of the human race. Multiple members of the United States Armed Forces entered his room, including an admiral, who believed that the attack on Ritson was not affiliated with the Russian government and that he should not launch an attack, though Raava disagreed. He then told Ritson that he should let the American people know Russia was responsible for his attempted assassination, and that he should order the strike.

Later, M16 agent Sonya Falsworth called her and told her that Nick Fury had entered the hospital and was willing to kill Ritson if it meant New Skrullos would not be harmed. After receiving the news, she ordered that Ritson be transferred to a different room as a level of security. She then went upstairs to look for an empty room for Ritson, where she was met by Falsworth, who had been hiding behind a door and Raava was held at gunpoint and forced into a hallway. Fury then revealed himself and greeted her, causing her to convince Ritson, who was still in a hospital bed, to shoot Fury. Raava tried to convince Ritson that she wasn't a Skrull, and Ritson believed her. Raava was then able to grab Falsworth's gun and pointed it at Fury. Fury then stole Ritson's gun and shot Raava, outing her as a Skrull, which caused Ritson to call off the strike.
