This article is about the episode from The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. For the Phineas and Ferb episode, see Raging Bully.

"Raging Bully" is the ninth episode of the Disney+ animated series, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. It premiered on April 13, 2022 on Disney+ and on February 4, 2023 on Disney Channel.[1]

Synopsis[]

LaCienega feels threatened by her ugly-duckling-turned-beautiful-swan cousin, LaBrea, as her quinceaƱera approaches, Sunset's sister, Melrose, goads her into making poor choices.

Plot[]

LaCienega is preparing for her quinceaƱera. Her cousin LaBrea, who was once a chubby girl, shows up at her doorstep, completely skinny and beautiful, causing her to scream. Also joining is LaBreaā€™s mother and Sunsetā€™s sister, Melrose, who has a love-hate relationship with Sunset. Melrose and her husband, Matteo have been divorced for some time and apparently has been putting a lot of pressure onto LaBreaā€™s shoulders, who forbids her to eat sweets. Even worse is LaCienegaā€™s vanity and party arrangements for the quinceaƱera, which, ranging from dancing, music and hairstyles are tacky and quite out of date. Penny and her friends, however, are more enamored by LaBreaā€™s seemingly angelic personality, drawing toxic levels of envy from LaCienega.

As Felix frets over the partyā€™s budget and Papi has been hired as DJ, LaCienega holds a sleepover which draws the gang away from her house, leaving only Penny and LaBrea, whom she refuses to talk to. The following night, Penny and her friends arrive at the quinceaƱera on schedule and after some photo shoots courtesy of KG, Felix discovers to his utmost shock that Papi has been replaced by Kid Capri, who prepares to introduce LaCienega. Tensions between Melrose and Sunset run even higher. While backstage, LaBrea offers LaCienega a present, which is a toad that sticks to her face. Because of this, she fails to show up when the curtain opens, leaving behind a pair of smoking high heels.

KG shows Penny what happened to LaCienega: she was spirited away via rocket to Snackland, which has fallen into disrepair since its previous appearance. With Trudy too busy to listen, the girls, plus Michael and KG, ride off on their bikes to Snackland where they find LaCienega hanging by her hair from the lower jaw of Suga Mamaā€™s Drop of Doom. LaBrea confesses that since they were little, she and LaCienega have been at each otherā€™s throats and is willing to apologize for her behavior. It is also revealed that she was the one who strapped LaCienega to the firework. With some heartwarming words, the toad gives LaCienega a pair of scissors to cut her hair, releasing her from the ride and floating gently back down to Earth just as the adults arrive.

In the end, Papi, who has been reinstated thanks to Suga Mama kidnapping Kid Capri, introduces LaCienega and LaBrea, who has been restored to her former weight, Melrose and Sunset make up and the party is a success. The episode ends with LaBrea and Melrose leaving, promising to come back on Independence Day and Sunset and Felix share a romantic kiss.

Trivia[]

  • Morals:
    • Sometimes, when you have enemies, you might have had something to do with them turning out the way that they did.
    • When you have wronged someone, the best thing you can do is be humble and admit that you were wrong, so you don't make the same mistake twice.
  • As Trudy holds Sunset back from attacking Melrose, she yells out to her "Mira, hypocrita. Dos caras, te voy a..." which translates to "Look, hypocrite. Two faces, I'm going to...ā€
  • LaBreaā€™s childhood outfit resembles Jane Porterā€™s dress.
  • This episode shares a title with the Phineas and Ferb episode Raging Bully.
  • This is the first time since "Love Thy Neighbor" LaCienega's feet are correctly shown as being large, as other episodes in the original series have incorrectly shown her feet as being small or normal-sized.
  • Ms. Gina is voiced by Tina Knowles. Tina Knowles is the mother of BeyoncĆ© and Solange Knowles, who sung the theme song of the original series along with the former sister's group, Destiny's Child. In addition to that, Knowles is a hair stylist like her character is.
  • In a flashback, LaCienega and LaBrea are seen playing with a Thingy doll.
  • Maya compares LaBrea's behavior to the psychological thriller film Single White Female.
  • Zoey says she is just as confused as when she watched Tiger King.

Errors[]

  • LaCienega celebrates her 15th birthday in this episode even though she, Penny and the rest of their friends are middle schoolers just like back in the original series -- in reality, a 15-year-old would be a high school student rather than a middle school student. However, it's entirely possible that LaCienega could've been held back in school at least once (depending on what time of the year her birthday is).[2]
