Randall Wynn "Randy" Fullmer was an American producer, animator, writer, storyboard artist, and musician for Walt Disney Animation Studios. He served as an effects animator for early Disney Renaissance, such as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He also produced The Emperor's New Groove and Chicken Little (both of which were directed by his close friend and colleague Mark Dindal).
Fullmer was born in Richland, Washington in 1950. As a teen, he built and played guitars, and spent time performing in the local band The Isle of Phyve (1966-1969). He studied architecture for two years at Washington State University, before discovering film, which led him to apply to CalArts, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1974.
Having spent much of his time making animation for educational films and commercials, Fullmer got to finally work on animated shows at Filmation, such as Bravestarr, She-Ra: Princess of Power, and Ghostbusters, Don Bluth's arcade games Dragon Lair and Space Ace, as well as various films, such The Secret of NIMH, The Last Unicorn, Flight of the Dragons, and Cats Don't Dance. By the late 1980s, he began an 18-year career at Disney as an effects artist as well as artistic coordinator, a position he created.
In 2006, Fullmer left the animation industry to found his own guitar business "Wynn's Guitars", where he crafted guitars for several musical talents. He also starred in the 2014 autobiography Restrung.
Fullmer passed away of bone cancer in his Woodland Hills home on July 10, 2023. He is survived by his wife Diana; stepdaughter Becky Kuriyama and stepson Nick Kuriyama; sister, Cathy Lou Tusler; and stepbrother Scott Landon.
