"Rat Tail" is the second segment of the seventy-third episode of Big City Greens.
Synopsis[]
Nancy tries to get Cricket to cut off his new rat tail without admitting that she hates it.
Plot[]
Cricket proudly announces that he has grown a rat tail and shows it off. Tilly and Bill openly show approval of it, but Nancy is disgusted and pulls Bill to the side. She is shocked to find that he likes it and he calls her out on her hypocrisy on allowing Cricket to express himself. Bill suggests to Nancy that she either learn to live with it, or tell Cricket that she hates it. Not wanting to do the latter, as then she would be like her father, she decides to go with a "third option". Meanwhile, Gramma Alice discovers that Remy has a knack for knitting due to his "gaming thumbs" and takes him on as an apprentice to fulfill a "prophecy".
Nancy takes Cricket to the barber to suggest other hairstyles, but when the barber sees it, he, along with the rest of the town, praise the rat tail. Later, she tries to subliminally get him to cut it off, but instead he elongates it with the help of Remy's new knitting abilities. Alice continues to train Remy in the art of knitting and he quickly becomes an expert. Alice reveals that he must knit the perfect glove, a task that she deems nearly impossible (she knitted five fingers instead of four), Remy takes to it, but seemingly fails in his task. He soon has an epiphany and manages to knit the perfect glove. Alice rewards him with golden knitting needles.
Nancy continues to panic over the rat tail and is beckoned by the voice of her father who tells her to criticize Cricket to get her point across. Nancy instead sneaks into Cricket's room in an attempt to cut off the rat tail, but accidentally wakes him. She admits to disliking it and was afraid of turning out just like her father and be disapproving. Cricket tells her that it is okay to disagree with him as Bill does it all the time and he still loves him. To please her, Cricket cuts off his rat tail, but then decides that he wants a mullet and produces a wig from his drawer. Nancy tells him that she hates that too and he thanks her.
