Renee is a character from the 2021 Disney/Pixar animated short Nona.
Background[]
Renee is Nona's granddaughter who often wears a pair of plastic cat ears on her head as well as wearing a purple shirt with an anthropomorphic ice cream on it with the sleeves patterned in red, violet, pink, and white. She also wears a pair of clip shoes as well as a pair of pale blue pants decorated with white dots on it.
Renee is shown to have a playful personality to her grandmother Nona. She has a like for her favorite kids show Kitty Kitty Dance Party as well as having a like for drawing with coloring pencils as playing with toy bricks. She also is also kind to her grandmother's dog, Baby. However, when Nona accidentally tips over the TV and cries that she missed the main event, Renee copies the wrestlers she saw on TV, showing that this is what her grandmother likes just as she gets her favor back.
Role in the short[]
Renee is first seen approaching Nona where she plans to watch Kitty Kitty Dance Party only for Nona to switch to E.W.W. Smashdown Wrestling where Renee's grandmother tells her to spend time using crayons to draw. She then shows a drawing of her and her grandmother wearing cat ears, unaware that she is blocking the screen, much to Nona's frustration. In another plan to keep herself busy, Nona gives Renee toy bricks she can play with as wel las her pet dog Baby in which Renee makes a sword using bricks while Baby plays with her, pretending to be adventurers, much to Nona feeling uncomfortable about this just as she places her and Baby on the couch. Later when Nona continues watching Smashdown, Renee constantly bothers her grandmother who is trying to watch the show. She then appears on the staircase much to Nona feeling shocked that she might get hurt just as Nona prevents her from hurting herself, accidentally knocking down the TV that is playing Smashdown, causing it to be static.
As Nona cries that she missed the event, Renee copies what she saw on TV just as her grandmother observes her movements. Realizing Renee copying the wrestlers she saw on TV, Nona observes her doing this and finds herself in a wrestling ring alongside her granddaughter Renee in another fantasy sequence just as the two imagine themselves playing wrestling together which the scene fades into the real world. Nona and her granddaughter happily laugh together pretending to be wrestlers. In a post credits scene, Nona is on the couch Baby who is sleeping and Renee on top of her as the latter's favorite show Kitty Kitty Dance Party plays. Nona tries to reach for the remote, but it falls to the floor, frustrating her.
