Rental Family is an upcoming American comedy-drama film, directed and co-written by Hikari.
Synopsis[]
Family follows a down and out actor living in Tokyo, who is hired as a token American guy for a Japanese rental family company, leading him on an unexpected journey of self-discovery through the roles he plays in other people’s lives.[1]

Production[]
On November 16, 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that a comedy-drama film titled Rental Family was acquired by Searchlight Pictures, with Hikari directing and co-writing with Julia Lebedev. Filming is scheduled to begin in Spring 2024, in Tokyo, Japan.[1]
On November 21, 2023, Deadline reported that Brendan Fraser was cast in an undisclosed role.[2]
On March 18, 2024, it was announced that Takehiro Hira and Akira Emoto had joined the cast.[3]
