The Reptile Hangout is a location that houses Zootopia's "secret reptile population" in Disney's upcoming 2025 animated feature film Zootopia 2. It is a reclusive, secretive pub inside an abandoned shipwreck in the district of Marsh Market.
Layout[]
Residing in a sunken ship off the bayou of Marsh Market, a myriad of reptiles are in hiding from the scrutiny of mammals. The sunken ship itself is a dingy, rusty, abandoned environment, with the hideout being the brightest place in the ship. Said hideout is protected by an eye-patched tortoise bouncer who uses its shell as a door.
The hangout itself is radiant and colorful, taking on the general appearance of a bistro restaurant speakeasy with a small concert stage in the distance and a reptile bar-band. It even has a base floor and a second floor basked in reddish-orange lights. Throughout the hideout, there are neon lights in the shape of a snake's head, a toad in the back, and a neon sign that advertises a branded drink made from bugs. There are ultraviolet heat lamps hanging from the ceiling to give the reptilian residents perpetual warmth due to being cold-blooded creatures[1]. Scattered around are a couple of billiards tables for the reptiles to play pool. Looming above is a giant tree where lizards and geckos are seen to be sticking to and climbing around.
The "secret reptile population" of Zootopia majorly consists of geckos, lizards, iguanas, skinks, snakes, turtles, and tortoises. Some lizards in the hideout work as waiters, handing drinks out to the ship's customers and locals.
Trivia[]
- While it is unconfirmed, the Reptile Hangout could possibly take inspiration from the Court of Miracles in the film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Not only because of the colorful aesthetics of both locations, but also because they house marginalized or second-class communities, negated from certain societies.
- Reptiles are hidden from a mammalian society in the city of Zootopia, and the Roma were being hunted by Judge Claude Frollo and his men.
- The ZPD infiltrating the Reptile Hangout could be a reference to Frollo discovering and raiding the Court of Miracles.

- One of the neon signs advertising a drink made from bugs further confirms that animals in Zootopia, be it mammalian or reptilian, consume insects or insect-based proteins as both a source of food and drink.
- The discrimination towards reptiles in the world of Zootopia could also be a reference to the Reptilian conspiracy theory, which theorizes that fictional shapeshifting humanoid reptilians are alien creatures that came to manipulate human power and society, and thus should be treated as such.
