Rita is a character who appears in the 2021 Disney+ original film Flora & Ulysses.
Background[]
Rita is a waitress who works at the Giant Donut Diner at Miruna County located in the suburban community of Vancouver. Hence her job as a waitress, she wears a waiter tag with her name on it just like any waiter or waitress at a restaurant. She is shown to be kind in taking orders from customers whom she sees. In spite of this, she even felt fearful of squirrels when she saw Ulysses, causing her to react in shock, showing that she is fearful of rabid animals. This incident, however, resulted in a call from the Miruna County Animal Control to receive a report about a squirrel incident at the diner.
Role in the film[]
Rita first appears when she approaches Flora and her father George seated on a table, asking them what their meal would be. George asks her that he would order a bacon omelette, which his daughter interrupts that she would order donuts from her. Rita curiously asks Flora if there is a kitten inside the box, only to find out that Ulysses, a squirrel, is inside instead, frightening her and the remaining people inside the restaurant, mistaking him for a rabid squirrel. Ulysses lands on Rita's head just before being snatched by a chef who attempts to smash him with a napkin holder, only for Ulysses to launch and inadvertently cause a mess, much to everyone's shock about the squirrel's powers. George and his daughter both leave the restaurant.
She later approaches Miller who tells her that he is looking for the squirrel that occurred within, trying to get into a conversation with him of where the incident occurred. During a conversation, Miller asks her if the squirrel he was looking for was with Flora, which Rita remembers, while Miller tells her that squirrels cannot be domesticated, despite their docile nature just before Miller plans to take care of the squirrel he is after. She then appears interviewing with a reporter about the squirrel incident she had at her diner where she thinks that the squirrel she saw is a rabid squirrel, making Ulysses a fugitive. She later approaches Miller who shows her the footage of where the incident occurred, just as Miller plans to solve the case of the squirrel. Furthermore, Rita appears in a mid-credits scene where she is seen dating with Miller just as Rita introduces Mr. Klaus, the cat, as her best friend just before he attempts to pounce on Miller, causing him to react in fright.

- Kate Micucci, who played Rita, also voiced Webby Vanderquack from the DuckTales reboot. Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz, and Bobby Moynihan, who participated in Flora & Ulysses, also voiced Huey, Dewey, and Louie respectively in said series.
- Her actress, Kate Micucci, was listed in the starring cast in the end credits of the film, despite not being a major character in the film.
