"Rizzo's Space Race" is the second segment of the fiftieth episode of the 2018 version of Muppet Babies. It premiered on November 12, 2021.
Synopsis[]
Rizzo imagines himself as a character from a TV show, Jimmy Cheddar, in a space dinner, but soon gets himself into trouble with Patch after insulting her.
Plot[]
Rizzo and Fozzie are watching the Wacky Alpacas on the screen. After it ends, another show comes on called Teenage Space Diner. At first, it starts out okay, but then there comes a point when the star of the show, Jimmy Cheddar, calls someone a ‘Spoonaroni’. While Rizzo thinks it’s funny, Fozzie believes the name to be very mean. Soon enough, Miss Nanny comes in and turns off the screen, as the show is not suited for little kids. With the screen turned off, the two go to join the others. Once they do, Rizzo begins to tell the others about the show he just saw and they decide to open their own Space Diner.
Rizzo then enters the diner, dressed like Jimmy Cheddar, and asks Summer for a Space Strawberry milkshake tube. But when she gives him a Galaxy Grape one instead, Rizzo calls her a Spoonaroni, which makes Summer feel bad.
Next, Rizzo turns on the jukebox. But then Patch McGluck comes in to change the music. The two begin to fight until the jukebox breaks, ending with Rizzo calling Patch a Spoonaroni. Despite everyone feeling shocked, Rizzo still thinks it’s funny. This causes Patch to challenge him to a space race, in which the loser can never enter the diner again, to which Rizzo accepts, despite not having a space car.
The kids then go down to the space garage. However, the others are rather hesitant, as they feel Rizzo hasn’t been very nice. But they ultimately agree to help out. Finally came the rocket boosters. But with all the pressure and not much time, Rizzo calls everyone ‘the biggest bunch of Spoonaronis in the whole Spoonaroni galaxy’. All the Muppets then get mad and decide to quit, as they don’t appreciate Rizzo calling them names. Rizzo is now left all alone with the car and puts the boosters on himself.
As the race begins, Rizzo and Patch ride out into space and around the rings of Saturn. Rizzo comes close to winning, but due to not being installed properly, one of the boosters falls off and throws his ship off course. Thus, Patch becomes the winner of the race, leaving Rizzo both defeated and disappointed.
Despite Miss Nanny’s warning, Rizzo goes back to the screen to see how the Teenage Space Diner show ends. The ending of the show reveals Jimmy apologizing for calling names and giving a message to the audience that calling friends mean names could hurt their feelings. Rizzo now understands that what he did was wrong.
He then returns to the diner and apologizes to everyone for calling them names and hurting their feelings and the others forgive him. Rizzo then is about to leave the diner for good, but Patch allows him to stay. With that, Rizzo feels elated and promises to never call anyone a mean name again.
