Roy O'Bannon is the deuteragonist of the Touchstone Pictures films Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights. He is an outlaw who teams up with a Chinese soldier and finds his true calling as a crime fighter.
Background[]
Personality[]
Roy O'Bannon is an idealistic, albeit slightly delusional individual. While he can be cocky and arrogant, he suffers from self-esteem issues and tends to exaggerate his own self-worth. He does show a more caring and occasionally cautious side and while he displays some cowardice, he will jump into action when called upon and stands up for his friends and protects those that he loves.
Trivia[]
- Roy reveals that his real name is Wyatt Earp. The real Wyatt Earp was a gambler who later on became a lawman, similarly to Roy. Despite being identified as such, the sequel completely throws this to the side, implying that he may simply just share the name of the historical person.
- Shanghai Knights is set in 1887. Roy states that he is 30. In real life, Wyatt Earp was already 39, while Owen Wilson was close to 35 by the time of filming.
