"Rumor Mill" is the second segment of the thirty-seventh episode of Recess.
Synopsis[]
Mikey is the subject of a vicious rumor that terrifies the whole school, but who started it?
Plot[]
Mikey is constantly walked all over by the kids during recess which infuriates the Gang to no end. Despite their efforts to push Mikey into taking control, he does not have the heart to stand up for himself. The next day, all the kids suddenly begin to act nicer to Mikey as if they are all scared of him. Spinelli gets Phil to reveal that a rumor was started stating that Mikey had pushed a young boy into the girl's restroom at the local movie theater. The Recess Gang decide to investigate into the matter.
The Gang confront Randall who reveals that he heard the story from someone else, leading to the Gang going all over the school. They realize that Randall himself may have started it and he reveals that he answered the school phone and heard an adult voice tell him the story. The Gang do not believe him, but Mikey finally lets him leave and reveals that he was the one who started the rumor using his singing voice and was tired of being stepped on. The Gang tell him that it is okay to say no to people sometimes, and he starts practicing this by saying no to kickball and yes to dancing.
