Sacagawea is a supporting character in the Night at the Museum franchise. She is a wax work figure of the famous Shoshone woman who helped the explorers Lewis and Clark charter the then Louisiana Territory of the United States. She makes her first animated appearance in Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again.

Background (animated film)[]

Personality[]

Sacagawea is a very kind and soft-spoken individual. However, she is also very adventurous and determined and will stop at nothing to help those in need. She also has a good sense of humor which she shares with her friend Teddy Roosevelt. At times, she is also shown to be sarcastic, but she is not cruel and is still the one of the Daleys' most reliable friends.

Physical appearance[]

Sacagawea is a Native American woman, specifically Shoshone, with brown skin and dark brown hair done down in two braided pigtails. Her dress mainly consists of what is, presumably, Shoshone clothing of light brown garments with red, blue and white coloring and accents on them, including a necklace.

Abilities[]

Like the real Sacagawea, she has expert tracking skills.

Trivia[]

  • Sacagawea was initially played by Mizuo Peck in the live-action film trilogy.
    • Ironically, Peck's real life ethnicity is mainly mixed European (father's side) and Japanese (mother's side), though she has claimed to have some Cherokee in her.
  • In the original film trilogy, Sacagawea and Teddy Roosevelt become a couple, while in the animated film it is only implied that the two are friends. This was most likely changed for ethical reasons, partially because in real life Sacagawea lived many years before Roosevelt was even born, but also mainly because it is commonly accepted that Sacagawea had only lived to be 24 while Roosevelt is most likely depicted as being a man in his late 40's early 50's, creating a giant age gap between the two.
  • The real Sacagawea was already married to a French man named Toussaint Charbonneau and was pregnant at age 18 when she met Lewis and Clark. She had a son named Jean Baptiste "Pomp" Charbonneau. Neither are mentioned in the Night at the Museum films.
