While working, Agent Deever is sent footage of a young cosplayer at AvengerCon, using powers. She brings it to the attention of her colleague, Agent Cleary, and showcases the video, adding that she's never seen powers like that. Cleary watches the clip and reports to Deever, to bring the young individual in.[2]
- “Did she have an accent of any kind? No. Was she Latina? I'm sorry. I'm supposed to say Latinx now, right? No? Middle Eastern perhaps? South Asian?”
- ―Agent Deever to Zoe Zimmer[src]
Damage Control bring in Zoe Zimmer, the young girl being saved by the masked individual, to determine what she knows, about her identity. Deever enters, in the middle of Cleary's interrogation, and figures out that the target is of south asian descent. Cleary calls her over, to announce a tri-state sweep, searching in every temple, community centre and mosque, though asks that she be respectful, as the FBI are already surveilling them. Deever accepts the order, and leaves to get ready.[3]
Drones acquired by Damage Control are used to determine the enhanced's location. They manage to track her, exiting an alley, where Agent Deever is waiting, with a team full of men. She orders her to freeze, but the powered individual creates platforms to run above the team. Deever's men fire a weapon, which emits a blast that shatters her constructs, but the enhanced individual manages to evade capture, and escapes from their sights.[3]
- “Department of Damage Control. We received a report of an unidentified enhanced individual operating out of this mosque.”
- ―Agent Deever to Sheikh Abdullah[src]
Following their encounter with the enhanced, Deever and her men arrive at the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City, where the powered individual was sighted. She enters the building and reports why they've arrived, to the mosque's leader, Sheikh Abdullah. He denies any such person is operating from the building, and jokingly asks, they refer anyone who can fly, to help clean out the gutters. She commands her men to search the premises, but Nakia Bahadir intervenes and prevents them from doing so, as they don't have a warrant. Agent Deever warns upon the seriousness of the matter, and advises that it would be in their best interest to cooperate, but the Sheikh asks she return with a warrant. Before she leaves, he asks that next time she returns, she removes her shoes.[4]
Deever later leads a team to the presence of enhanced individuals, who are found causing destruction at a wedding venue. She has her team, arrest the group, and they are brought into the DODC Supermax Prison.[4]
The arrested enhanced individuals manage to break out, shortly after being detained, and the DODC go in search for them. A drone is activated to find them, and it manages to locate the youngest member of the group, Kamran, who is found hiding at a convenience store, known as Circle Q. He uses his powers to blast the drone, which in turn, fires back, destroying the building in the process, and Agent Deever is called in, to deal with the aftermath.[5]
Deever arrived the following morning to the crime scene, now being investigated. She warns of what happens, when the wrong type of people get powers, and clarifies to her associate, Agent Barrie, that she's referring to kids. She orders for the city to locked down, and has him use non-lethal rounds, so she can bring Kamran in, alive, to determine his nature.[6]
- “I assure you, Damage Control is only here to ensure your safety. We are looking for a high-level threat.”
- ―Agent Deever to Sheikh Abdullah[src]
Deever and her men later head to the Islamic Masjid of Jersey City, once again, where they suspect Kamran to be. She enters the building and orders the attendees to turn over their identifications, only to find they have already done so, before she can complete her sentence. She tries to ensure the group that she is only looking out for their safety, and describes her suspect, with characteristics, that apply to most of those who attend the mosque. She warns Sheikh Abdullah of the consequences in aiding and abetting a criminal, and moves past him, to search the premises, ordering her men to make certain they search every room.[6]
As Deever heads towards a storage toom, the entrance is blocked by Nakia Bahadir, who is reluctant in allowing Deevr entry. Agent Deever orders her men to kick the door in, so Nakia steps aside, and asks they not hurt the boy inside. Deever opens the door, expecting Kamran, only to reveal a classmate of Nakia's, whom she has secretly been dating. Deever in reponse walks past, continuing to search for her actual suspect.[6]
She and her men are unsuccessful, and are eventually forced to leave the mosque, without a suspect. Later, that evening, Deever gets word that both Kamran and the powered individual at AvengerCon, known publically as "Night Light", were sighted as Coles Academic High, and she has her team, regroup outside the school.[6]
Agent Deever proceeds to report to Agent Cleary, on how they plan to close in on the powered individuals, making it clear, that they've managed to track two, both of whom are leaving a trail of destruction in Jersey City. She requests three minutes to bring them into custody, but Cleary is dismissive, of idea, as he doesn't like the prospect of Damage Control's actions being associated with that of a high school, and orders Deever to abort the mission. Agent Deever agrees to do so, only to end the call, and defy his orders, calling in additional units.[6]
Agent Deever orders her men to storm the building, and as she waits outsid, she is met by a group of protestors, who were made aware of Damage Control's activities, pertaining to the enhanced individuals.[6]
Deever orders her team to set up a perimeter on the outside edge of the school, when Kamran, makes his presence suddenly known, by using his powers to smash through the school's entrance doors, and stepping out. As he moves forward, Agent Deever commands him to get on his knees, but when he refuses to comply, and he begins glowing, she orders her team to fire at him. Bullets are thrown in his direction, but Night Light jumps between the two parties, creating a protective shield, from the agents' bullets. In response, Deever orders a ceasefire, and targets a large sonic weapon, which blasts a large pulse in their direction, throwing Night Light and Kamran, back. Deever signals for a second blast to hit them, when Night Light creates an exoskeleton made up of energy. Deever and the others dash out of the way, as Night Light jumps in their direction, and destroys all the policing vehicles, in close range.[6]
Kamran recovers from his injuries, and Agent Deever moves in his direction. She aims her gun at him, but Kamran uses his powers to throw an upturned vehicle towards her, which she dodges. She picks up her gun, and aims it towards Kamran once more, as he walks towards her, when he suddenly releases a burst of energy from his body, sending everything in his vicinity back, while jagged crystalline hard lights sprout around him, and move in all directions, knocking Deever and her agents back. Night Light walks towards him, and creates a crystal dome, encapsulating the two, which stops the pulsating energy, and Deever sits up to looks on.[6]
Night Light emerges from the dome alone, and both her, and Kamran's hard light creations dissipate into the air. Deever orders her agents to recover, and capture her, only to find the group of protestors, surround the superheroine, in a human shield for protection, supported by the local police. Agent Deever and Barrie walk through the crowd, but Night Light runs through the air, on her platforms. As the crowd cheer, Agent Barrie hands Agent Deever the phone, with Agent Cleary waiting on the end. He berates her for disregarding his orders, and attacking children, under Damage Control's name, and she is dismissed from the organization. Deever returns the phone, and orders her men to fall out, as they walk away from the crowd.[6]
