Sagebrush Sadie was an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit short. It was released on April 1, 1928. Yhis short is considered "lost". Surviving pencil animation drawings were used to produce recreated "pencil tests" of certain scenes for the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit DVD release in 2007 and later on, story sketches for the short would emerge.
Oswald and Ortensia are travelling on a mountain road. When Ortensia's stagecoach gets away, Oswald tries to rescue her. Pete tries to beat him to it. Resulting in both vying to rescue her.
- It is a common misconception that Sadie refers to Ortensia, but this has never been proven.
- This is the only time that the name "Sadie" was actually used in the title of a short.
- When story sketches were discovered, it was found that the simulated pencil test's opening with Oswald and Sadie riding together was actually the short's ending.
- The gag of Oswald stuffing his horse full of hay to allow a loose saddle strap to properly fit would be recycled for Steamboat Willie.
