Saint Martin is an island located in the northeast Caribbean Sea, which is located 300 kilometers east of Puerto Rico including an eponymous capital city. In the 2017 Disney live-action film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, it is the place under command by Lieutenant Scarfield where Henry Turner made his way after the destruction of the Monarch, with Jack Sparrow's boat, the Dying Gull beached in the said island.
Background[]
At some unknown date, Saint Martin was found by the British who set up a fort to hold the pirates who were rampant sailing across the Caribbean. Inhabitants who lived in Saint Martin included John Scarfield who set up a plan to drive witches away from the island as well as Carina Smyth who was accused for witchcraft as well as George Swift, owner of the Swift and Sons Chart House. After an attack on the Monarch by a group of ghostly crewmen, Henry Turner, the sole survivor, reached the town while Jack Sparrow led his crew to rob the bank. Throughout the robbing of the newly-opened bank via horseback, it caused destruction of much of the town, including several houses, the Swift and Sons Chart House, and a bridge. It is unknown if the wreckage was rebuilt afterwards.
Points of interests[]
- Saint Martin Prison: A local prison where Carina Smyth was imprisoned. When a priest visited her in jail, he accused her of witchcraft, despite Carina's bad reputation of being a witch, claiming herself that she is an astrologer just as she managed to escape her cell.
- Royal Bank of Saint Martin: A newly opened bank that was ultimately destroyed during Jack and his crew's failed attempt to obtain money from the bank, due to only one piece of coin obtained.
- Swift and Sons Chart House: Established in 1698, this chart house was where sailors all over the Caribbean shopped to look for reliable maps of the seas and stars. The sign outside the chart house read, "No dogs, no women" under orders by owner George Swift. The building ultimately was destroyed as the bank crashed through the building, destroying all of Swift's work.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales[]
As a priest visits Carina Smyth in prison, he accuses her for the uses of witchcraft much to her claims of not being a witch by confessing him of telling the real truth. Carina ultimately escapes prison, much to the priest worried about her escape. Meanwhile, a bank opened by Mayor Dix takes place during a ceremony where he presents the most secure institution on the Caribbean to which the opening ceremony was disrupted when a group of marines saw Jack Sparrow inside a safe just as Jack's crew, commanded by Joshamee Gibbs, plans to rob the bank just as the redcoats hold fire to notice the the Mayor's wife inside the vault to which she manages to reunite with her husband. As the redcoats, under command by the Mayor, start attacking, the crew begins robbing the bank just as the Mayor orders the marines to stop Jack Sparrow from robbing the bank.
Meanwhile, Carina Smyth, wanted for false accusations of being a witch, manages to enter a chart house not noticing a restriction sign outside the building just as George Swift screams in terror for having a "witch" and a pirate in his shop just as the bank crashes through the building just as the marines plan on chasing the two across the town. Back with Jack and his crew, the plan to get money from the bank, however, was unsuccessful, as the vault was open during the robbery as the pirates only obtained a single piece of treasure from the vault. Jack's crew then begins to lose faith in their captain as a result of the failed attempt, followed by Jack being sent to prison for robbing the bank as well as the Mayor scheduling an execution for Jack and Carina.
The next day, Jack Sparrow and Carina Smyth are taken out of prison and encounter an angry mob of townspeople gathered to watch the execution of Jack and Carina. While Carina's death sentence is to be hung on the neck, Jack's death sentence is to be killed via guillotine. During the executions, Jack and Carina stall the events by bickering with each other, much to the Mayor feeling irritated. Irritated by the constant bickering, the Mayor furiously orders the executioners to kill them immediately as the crowd agrees. Suddenly just as the executioner lowers down the guillotine to kill Jack, Henry Turner sneaks past the events undetected just as he and the rest of Jack's crew arrive to rescue Jack from being executed, causing the execution to be disrupted. Throughout an ambush, the guillotine that was about to decapitate Jack suddenly becomes dislodged, resulting it to be destroyed, followed by Carina furiously knocking the hangman off the platform (though the noose on her neck suddenly becomes dislodged). Jack's crew then takes on the marines during a violent ambush, much to the Mayor who is furious that the execution was disrupted at this time. Jack and his crew followed by Carina joining in managed to escaped from execution in time in a plan to seek the Trident that Captain Salazar was seeking.
