Samantha, better known as Sami, is a major character in the 2022 Disney+ original film Sneakerella. She is El's best friend.

Sami is a teenage girl whom El meets in Queens, New York. She is shown to be social to El, often supporting him in certain situations such as helping him wear a disguise to the King's Annual Charity Gala. In addition to giving El support, she is occasionally shown to use a physical camera, such as the case of El holding the missing sneaker which he lost during the Gala, often helping Kira find the sneaker that matches its designer or when El started a relationship with Kira.
Role in the film[]
Sami is first seen when El approaches her in the streets just before approaching Gustavo. As El offers to help Gustavo care for his garden by bringing his fertilizer by the tomato patch, they were able to help him fertilize his garden. Just as Gustavo suggests El to keep his late mother's flowers blooming, Sami brings El to the subway. As they arrive, El begins to put a design on Sami's sneakers which she felt impressed of the design he did to his sneakers, which she thinks El is a legit designer. After they exit the train, they line up at the King6 shoe store to get a pair of sneakers inside. She later stares upon Kira wearing a unique pair of sneakers, unaware of a group of rude customers who tell her and El that they are cutting in line. Just as Kira introduces herself to them, Sami tells her that El believes that he is very passionate about the sneakers in his store which his late mother taught him as well as telling her that El is a sneaker psychic. However, Sami later hears an employee telling the customers that they are officially sold out of Forum sneakers in the shop they are lining up, Sami, El, and Kira escape from a group or rude customers where they escape into the train station leading to Queens.
The next day, Sami recaps of Kira which she was hanging out with earlier, who tells him that she is Darius' daughter just before she enters El's shoe store. As they enter the stockroom, Sami uses the computer to show El a website for King's Annual Charity Gala so that she could help find Kira. Sami gives her an opportunity to help attract Kira just before El's stepfather tells him to get to work. After an argument with his stepfather, El approaches Sami who figured out that Logan's brother's best friend Jeremy, and his cousin, are working and catering in the Gala, planning to get into the Gala, which El replies to Sami that his stepfather Trey is selling his store Laces to Foot Locker, planning to close the store. She comforts El that his mother lives in his heart, as long as he carries on her legacy, just as El replies that the shoe store is everything to her. Seeing El designing shoes, Sami happily reacts and later devises a plan so that she and El can wear waiter outfits to disguise themselves as waiters to sneak into the Gala. Sami later messages El to wear his waiter disguise to sneak into the Gala.
After Gustavo rescues El, Sami approaches him, felling worried that they might be late for the Gala, just as Gustavo shows them the importance of good things which happen through good intentions, as he shows them a car he gives them, telling them to be back before midnight. Arriving at the Gala, Sami and El plan to find a side entrance, but a doorman tells them that they need tickets to attend the Gala. After El finds the tickets, Sami and El were able to enter a room in a plan to find Kira just before El finds Kira while Sami snacks on canapés. However, during a presentation, Sami rushes out of the King 6 building as the clock is about to strike midnight, alongside El and as they leave, they suddenly notice that their car that Gustavo game them was given parking tickets, resulting their car being towed away, just before they walk all the way home. As El walks all the way home with Sami, El recaps that Kira wanted him to have some professional experience and wanted him to meet her father, which Sami expects that the gala would turn out great.
Later, Sami shows El a post from King6 Sneaker Corp about Kira trying to find a designer, telling him that Kira is trying to find her while telling him that everything the people talked about during the gala would be true, telling him to put faith in himself. Sami later takes a picture of El holding the sneaker so that Kira could find him, much to Stacy noticing them, planning to talk to his brother about it. She later reacts in joy after Kira sent her a direct message to her phone, much to El's stepbrothers noticing this. The next day, Sami finds a concept of El's sneaker design which he would show at Sneakercon at King6, unaware that El's mean stepbrothers took the sneaker he is about to show her, just before heading off to King6. However, El's conversation was unsuccessful.
Furthermore, Trey asks Sami to know where his stepson is, she convinces him that his stepson is talented, despite his best efforts, telling him to show who El really is. She later stands outside the King6 building watching El reconcile with his stepfather as well as having his bad reputation cleared out between Darius' family and Zelly and Stacy. At the end of the film, Sami is seen taking a picture of El and Kira who have started a relationship together.

- At one point, Sami tells El to kiss "a lot of lady frogs before finding a princess", this is a possible reference to The Princess and the Frog.
