Sleevemore Centre for ps-....for psychic research?
Raven reads a card given by Karli

"Saving Psychic Raven" is the eighth episode of the Disney Channel series That's So Raven and aired on February 21, 2003. It was written by Jeff Abugov & Michael Feldman and directed by Sean McNamara.

Summary[]

After Raven loses a volleyball game for Bayside due to a vision she had on the court, she begins to find solace in a group of fellow Teen Psychics. Nevertheless, Eddie and Chelsea soon feel abandoned and it is up to Raven to choose which group of friends she will stick with.

Plot[]

The championship volleyball game against Bayside's rivals, Jefferson High, is underway. Raven and Chelsea are doing their best, and there are only a few seconds left on the clock. As the ball comes to Raven, she gets a vision: Chelsea will break her pinky fingernail. The ball hitting Raven in the head snaps her out of it, and the buzzer goes off. Jefferson has won for the 27th year in a row, and the Bayside team is not happy. Chelsea tries to smooth the situation over, but makes the other players angrier. The other girls leave, and Eddie asks what happened. Raven explains what she saw in her vision. This annoys Chelsea and Eddie, but Raven points out that she can't control when she has visions. Chelsea offers that they go to get some food, but Raven just wants to go home. They all disperse, but say they will meet up for bowling that weekend. After Eddie and Chelsea leave, Raven is approached by a girl from Jefferson. The girl, Carly, says she knows why Raven missed the ball, and gives her a business card. The card contains information for the Sleevemore Center for Psychic Research.

Some time later, Raven arrives at the research center. She is greeted at the door by Carly and Marvin, a telepath. They introduce her to the other psychics, like Marlow, a spoonbender, and Sparky, the pyrokinetic. Carly indicates that she herself is a telekinetic telepath, and lifts a rubber ball with her mind to demonstrate. Dr. Sleevemore, another telekinetic, arrives and welcomes Raven to the center. He explains that they can help Raven gain better control of her powers. First, he decides to see how powerful her abilities are by hooking her up to a machine called the Cerebral Oscillator. They test to see if she has any other psychic powers, but are unsuccessful. Marvin mocks her, saying she probably does not have powers at all. But, Raven has a vision, causing the machine to go crazy. Dr. Sleevemore asks if Raven had a vision, and Raven tells him to take 3 steps to the left. Sleevemore does, and a piece of the machine falls, landing where Sleevemore was standing. The psychics applaud for Raven, and Sleevemore thanks her, adding that she has a decent level of psychic energy. Marvin admits that he is impressed, and Carly welcomes Raven to their group. They invite her out for pizza after research hours the following day. Raven thinks for a moment, since she was going to go bowling with Eddie and Chelsea, but decides to join the psychics.

Meanwhile, Cory feels that something is wrong with his rat, Lionel. He figures that Lionel is lonely, and needs female companionship. Victor does not want another rat in the house, but Tanya feels that it would be a good idea.

The next morning, Eddie and Chelsea come to Raven's house. Raven is not happy as she shows them the school's website. On the front page, there is a news article about Raven's mishap at the volleyball game, along with a looping GIF of her being hit in the head with the ball. Eddie and Chelsea laugh, but quickly stop when Raven protests. Raven then tries to tell Eddie and Chelsea about the psychics she met, but before she can, Eddie and Chelsea tease her about her abilities. Eddie mocks Raven's "vision face" and Chelsea points fun at how the visions can be about something as mundane as her nail breaking. Raven is offended, and says she will not go bowling with them. When asked why, Raven says that she will be helping out Cory with his rat's "crisis."

Later that day, a local pet store has brought over their female rats to the Baxter house. Victor is disgusted at all the rats. Tanya asks Victor to be supportive, as this will teach Cory about love and compassion. Cory brings in Lionel and shows him all the rats. Lionel takes a particular interest in Daisy, and starts to groom her.

At the pizza parlor, the psychics are all waiting to order. They get a rude waitress and decide to mess with her. Carly makes the waitress's pen fly around with her powers. When the waitress goes to leave, Carly makes the waitress's wig fly away. Marvin comments that messing with "normies" is fun. Raven says that while she loves hanging out with her "normie" friends, they do not understand what she goes through. The psychics all empathize. Raven then gets a strange feeling; not a vision, but a "vibe." Carly encourages Raven to tell them what she is feeling. Raven says that she senses two people who are very angry at her. At that moment, Chelsea and Eddie appear behind her, asking about "the rat." Raven takes her friends aside, and explains the situation to them. Chelsea and Eddie are amazed that the other psychics can make things fly with their minds and read thoughts, but are mad at Raven for lying to them. Raven counters that Chelsea and Eddie have been giving her a hard time about her powers recently, and wanted to talk to people who understood her problems. Eddie says that Raven would rather hang out with "freaks" than with him and Chelsea, and the psychics overhear. Raven is shocked, and asks if her friends call her a freak when she isn't around. Chelsea denies it, but Raven responds that if the other psychics are freaks, then so is she. She sits with the psychics, and Eddie goes to leave. Chelsea follows, but bumps her hand against the table, breaking a nail. Raven asks if it was the pinky. Chelsea claims not to care, but Marvin, reading her mind, says she does. Chelsea and Eddie leave in a huff.

Back at the Baxter house, Cory is organizing a wedding for Lionel and Daisy, complete with a cardboard chapel. Tanya and Victor spectate, dressed in formal clothes. Victor does not see the point in participating in a wedding ceremony for rats. Cory officiates, telling Lionel and Daisy that if their marriage is anything like Tanya and Victor's, they will love each other forever. Tanya and Victor are touched at this; Victor even cries a little. Cory pronounces the rats husband and wife, and the rats sniff and touch each other.

At the Sleevemore Center, Raven is hooked up to the Oscillator again. She is trying to force a vision, but is unable to focus. Marvin reads her mind, and can tell that she is worried about losing Eddie and Chelsea. Carly tells Raven that even without Eddie and Chelsea, she is among friends. The doorbell rings and Marvin answers. Eddie and Chelsea are at the door, and want to speak to Raven. Raven pulls them aside and asks if they came to watch the freak show. Eddie and Chelsea apologize for their behavior. They say that if the psychics are Raven's friends, then they can all be friends together. The psychics decline their offer, not wanting "normies" who insult them around. Raven decides to leave with Eddie and Chelsea, but Carly and the other psychics use their powers to hold Raven still. Eddie and Chelsea pull on Raven, but the telekinesis causes Raven to come loose from their grip and start floating around the room. Dr. Sleevemore comes in, and stops Raven with his powers before she hits the Oscillator. Raven's friends and the psychics blame each other for the ordeal, calling each other names. Raven steps in and declares that no one is a "normie" or a "freak." They are all people, and there is more to the psychics than just their powers. Raven thanks Dr. Sleevemore for his time and help, and Sleevemore responds that Raven is always welcome to the lab. The two groups apologize to each other. Carly then says that she accepts his offer for a date. Eddie is confused at first, but realizes Carly read his thoughts. But Sparky, who used to date Carly, sets the seat of Eddie's pants on fire in retaliation.

At the Baxter house, Tanya and Victor are looking over the photos from Lionel and Daisy's wedding. They agree it was a lovely event. Cory happily comes downstairs with a box, saying his parents are now grandparents. Victor opens the box, but there is nothing inside. Then, everyone hears squeaking coming from nearby. The "grandkids" are loose in the house
