"Scarestitute Teacher" is the second segment of the fifteenth episode of Vampirina. It premiered on January 12, 2018 alongside "Vee is for Valentine".
Plot[]
In school, Mr. Gore tells the class that his all-teacher band, the Math Men, has a concert out of town, so he will be absent for a few days. While he's gone, the school will find a substitute teacher to take his place. Vampirina tells Poppy and Bridget about her great idea: Oxana will be the substitute teacher, as she was the best scarestitute teacher back in Transylvania. At the Scare B&B, Oxana is feeling unsure about being a substitute for the class, as it's been a while since she's done any teaching. Demi, Gregoria, and Vampirina tell her that she's scary good at teaching, and this motivates her to do so again, exciting everyone.
Later, Oxana shows how she teaches: by making the setting as spooky as possible to give everyone the complete scarestitute experience. As the other classmates arrive, Vampirina tells Oxana that she'll be great. Oxana introduces herself to the class. The first lesson is music, and the class will learn the sound of screams. What makes it spine-tingling is using the diaphragm. Oxana then demonstrates it before challenging them to do Scream Symphony No. 13. The class makes some beautiful screams. Poppy tells a nervous Vampirina that Oxana is doing fine.
Next up is history, where Oxana will show the class all about the Transylvanian kings and queens, which is just like the ceremonial cape that belonged to King Constantine the Kooky, who was followed by Stanislav the Stinky, who was not a popular king. After that was Queen Magda the Mummy, who led the Spooky Revolution. This confuses the class. Vampirina tells Oxana that that is not the history the class is studying. Oxana realizes it and decides to move on to the last lesson of the day: science. She demonstrates the volcano diorama, and shows the model of Mount Transylvania. Edgar has never heard of it. Oxana mixes the ingredients, which are frog's breath and lizardwort, and slime splatters all over the classroom. Oxana states that that's how everyone learns. Just then, class ends.
Oxana tells Vampirina and Poppy that she'll revise the scream lesson for tomorrow. At the Scare B&B, Vampirina tells Demi and Gregoria about everything that happened at school being Transylvania stuff and the students not liking getting covered in slime. She states that monsters like that kind of stuff, unlike humans. She thinks that Oxana was more like a monster, which the students didn't like. The next day, Oxana tells Vampirina that another substitute teacher would be a better fit than her because she doesn't think she's right for the Pennsylvanian type of teaching and that the classmates will be happier with a human teacher.
At school, Vampirina tells Poppy about what happened. Ms. Fincher arrives and introduces the class as the new substitute teacher. Vampirina tells her about the mess regarding the volcano dioramas. As a result, Ms. Fincher will be reading the class facts about volcanos from a book. Later, Poppy tells Vampirina and Bridget that it was the slowest day of school ever. Vampirina tells Edgar and the other kids about the new substitute teacher and Oxana not coming to school anymore. Edgar states that the difference is what made it fun, and that Ms. Fincher made school different and exciting, like when he, Poppy, and Bridget first met Vampirina, who tells Poppy to get Oxana to come back to school.
At the Scare B&B, Oxana is told by everyone to go back to school. She states that she's not the best teacher for human kids and Pennsylvanian classrooms. Vampirina apologizes for saying that stuff, stating that she got embarrassed by all the Transylvanian stuff Oxana brought to class when she shouldn't have, and she is a great teacher. The kids love Vampirina because she's different, and she loves Oxana because she's different, as well. Vampirina sings about how great Oxana teaches the class, she states that the vampire way mixed with the human way is the best combination for school. This gives Oxana an idea; at school, she returns as the substitute teacher and also brings a volcano display. The helpers are Bridget and Edgar, who use the ingredients on the volcano, and this time, it creates snow. After Bridget mentions it, Oxana decides to teach the scream lesson again.
