"Scent of the South" is an episode from The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa.

Synopsis

When Timon finds Pumbaa's natural smell disgusting, the unhappy Pumbaa decides to freshen up his smell with the help of a perfume-knowledgeable skunk.

Plot

"Scent of the South" begins by introducing Timon, a meerkat and his warthog friend, Pumbaa. At the start of the episode, it is nighttime, and after Pumbaa's gas comes out in a log, Timon finds it disgusting and the meerkat decides to sleep outside. The next morning, Timon wakes up and finds Pumbaa missing. While Pumbaa walks away unhappy, a skunk stops the warthog to tell him about his smell. Pumbaa asks the skunk to help him smell better so Timon can be his friend again. Meanwhile, Timon is looking for Pumbaa. Later, he finds Pumbaa with the skunk and believes that the warthog made a new Bestest Best Friend.

At the skunk's house, the skunk sprays Pumbaa with a big perfume to make Pumbaa smell better. Meanwhile, after Timon complains about Pumbaa's friendship with the skunk, he finds two stinkbugs and eats them because the meerkat thinks that his friend left him for the skunk because of her smell. Timon and Pumbaa meet each other and Timon makes Pumbaa smell his breath. Pumbaa thinks that it's his breath that stinks and leaves Timon. The warthog goes back to the skunk and the skunk makes him drink a tea that makes his breath smell good. Meanwhile, Timon dives in a smelly mud puddle and covers himself with mud.

Then, Timon and Pumbaa meet each other again with Timon smelling bad. Pumbaa believes that he still smells and leaves Timon again. Pumbaa goes back to the skunk. The skunk gives Pumbaa a bath, brushes his teeth, and dries him up, while Timon is writing a letter to someone to give the meerkat a big smelly cheese.

Timon with the big cheese on his head and Pumbaa, now smelling much better, meet each other once again. This time, they confess to each other that they did what each of them were doing so that they can be friends again. After that, the two laugh and Timon accepts Pumbaa's new smell. However, Pumbaa sees that Timon smells bad and sends the meerkat to the skunk.
