- Robert "Bobby" Wayne - The leader of the group. He also appears to be the tallest and has the biggest attitude of the bunch, claiming to have been causing trouble since he was nine. When pushed, he takes on a "never quit" demeanor and brings the rest of the Second Chancers to his cause.
- Crutchfield - Bobby's second-in-command. He is apparently an expert pick-pocket and appears to talk the most out of the whole group.
- Daniel "Danny" Simpson - Comes from a long line of trouble makers, claiming that he has "a reputation" to uphold.
- Chip Ozgood - The "Einstein" of the group. Besides his eating habits, he is very clever and managed to play Ernest out of his money.
- Butch "Too Cool" Vargas - The "cool" one of the group who is sometimes seen as "third" in command.
- Moustafa "Moose" Hakeem Jones - The youngest and smallest of the kids. Despite being a trouble maker with an attitude of his own, he is also the most empathetic and the first to admire Ernest for his good character.

- For some reason, Butch Vargas is named "Bubba Vargas" in the closing credits.
- All the actors fondly remembered Jim Varney, who would give them acting advice for certain scenes.
- Moose's full name is never said in the movie and is only revealed in the credits.
- Chip Ozgood remains Todd Lloyd's only acting role. Danny Capri and Hakeem Abdulsamad both retired from acting roughly a decade after Ernest Goes to Camp's release. As of 2025, Patrick Day, Scott Menville, and Jacob Vargas continue to act well into their adulthood. Menville in particular is known for voice acting, being the voice of Robin in Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!
