Shangwu is a kingdom that appears in the Adventures of the Gummi Bears episode "The Magnificent Seven Gummies."
Background[]
Shangwu, a kingdom in the Far East, had once either been populated or visited by the Ancient Gummies, who helped the human population defeat the Dreaded One, an old dragon that used to terrorize its citizens, demanding to be fed daily in exchange for leaving them unharmed.
After a few hundred years, the dragon returned to Shangwu, and its benevolent ruler Prince Yen Moon traveled the world by foot, in search of the last known homes of the Gummi Bears, carrying a mysterious Gummi Bear statue as proof of their existence in his plea for help. Arriving in Dunwyn, King Gregor welcomes the stranger with open arms, but is sad to inform him that no sightings of the fabled bears had been reported in over 500 years.
But Cavin overhears the conversation, and informs his friends that a stranger with a Gummi Bear statue is looking for them. Unfortunately for all involved, the prince had to cross Drekmore to get to Dunwyn, at which point some Ogres crossed paths with Yen Moon, and are able to file a report with Duke Igthorn about the visitor with the mysterious Gummi Bear statue.
Through Toadie's scheming, the statue falls into Igthorn's hands. But upon meeting and helping the Gummi Glen Gummies with one of their problems, they vow to help Yen Moon with his problem. Together they get ahold of the statue, and use its magic to instantly travel to Shangwu in the form of a magical kite.
Unaware that Igthorn and Toadie were secretly able to come along for the ride, the Gummies are being met with a hero's welcome in the Asian kingdom, amazed at experiencing being able to openly walk among so many humans that mean them no harm. After a celebratory banquet and fireworks, the Gummies are soon able to find out their task, and learn about their ancestors' history with the foreign land.
Together, they use strategy and magic to once again defeat both Igthorn and the Dreaded One, sending the dragon off, far away, with help from the magical Gummi Bear statue.
Having fulfilled their quest, the Gummies bid Shangwu farewell, and get on their long journey home to Gummi Glen.
