"Shell-Shock" is the second segment of the eighteenth episode of the Disney Channel animated series StuGo.

Synopsis[]

SAVE YOURSHELLF! After a close call, daredevil Larry embraces a life of extreme caution.

Plot[]

Mr. Okay attempts to beckon the kids to get onto Dr. Lullah's Torso Accelerator by passing it off as a "Super-Fun-Wow-Slide". The kids don't fall for it, except for Larry who willingly goes along despite knowing its true purpose. The accelerator turns out to be an obnoxiously fast and overly dangerous slide that sends Larry through the wringer. After nearly getting pierced by a stalactite, and seeing the Grim Reaper for a brief moment, Larry comes off the ride traumatized. Now fearing every little thing that could cause him harm, he becomes obsessed with a small crab's shell and gets the idea to protect himself in a similar fashion.

Larry gets a large shell for himself and announces his intent to remain safe. Spurred on by his new determination, Merian decides to follow his lead and goes to the beach with him to get a shell. They meet two mutant crabs: Crabecca (who quickly gets taken by a rather small seagull), and Scrumptious who apparently is seasoned and buttered already. Scrumptious tells Larry and Merian that there is a shell that could support them called the Shell of Zanzibub that is perfectly safe for all of them. The group decide to head up the mountain to find the shell where they humorously dodge other dangers, though Scrumptious ends up getting "jacked up" by bees.

Larry and Merian arrive at the cave where the ginormous shell is located, but they discover too late that the shell belongs to a giant mutant eel that eats people. Larry has a vision of safety character Arfthur who tells him that people get "jacked up" regardless of being safe. To save Merian, Larry leads the eel all the way back to the accelerator and has it go through the ride, ending with it getting killed. Afterwards, Larry and Merian have discarded their shells and now operate the accelerator for the mutants to ride. The Grim Reaper appears and tells Larry that he has inspired him to take up skateboarding.

Cast[]

Trivia[]

  • Zanzibub is obviously a play on the real life Zanzibar.
  • Arfthur's appearance is most likely a reference to Clutch Cargo, which utilized live action mouths over animation, a style that was humorously re-popularized by SpongeBob SquarePants.
    • Incidentally, there is an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants with a similar premise to this episode.
