Sherman Alexander Hemsley was an American actor, voice actor, and comedian, who, for Disney, he provided the voice of the Magic Mirror in the Golden Anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and tyrannical boss Bradley P. Richfield in Dinosaurs. He also portrayed Edward Marshall/Steel Condor in Up, Up, and Away. He reprised his role of George Jefferson in Mafia!.

Hemsley was born and raised in South Philadelphia and attended Central High School for ninth grade and Bok Technical High School for tenth before dropping out to join the United States Air Force. After his service, Hemsley worked as a postman while attending acting classes before appearing in stage productions of Purlie, But Never Jam Today, The Lottery, Old Judge Mose is Dead, and Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope.

After being spotted by Norman Lear, Hemsley was offered the role of George Jefferson on the sitcom All in the Family with Isabel Sanford playing his wife Louise. The two proved to be popular and were given their own spin-ff, The Jeffersons which ran for eleven seasons from 1975 to 1985. He went on to appear in other television shows such as Amen, The Love Boat, The Incredible Hulk, Fantasy Island, 227, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Designing Women, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, The Magic School Bus, The Wayans Bros, Sister, Sister, Goode Behavior, The Hughleys, Family Matters, All That!, and Tyler Perry's House of Payne. His film credits include Love at First Bite, Ghost Fever, Sprung, Casper: A Spirited Beginning, Senseless, and American Pie Presents: The Book of Love.
