"Show Time" is the fifth episode of Pixar's Cars on the Road. It premiered on September 8, 2022 on Disney+.
Synopsis[]
A traveling circus exposes Lightning’s fear of clowns and his new friend, Ivy’s unexpected talents.
Plot[]
McQueen, Mater and Ivy stop by a car wash where the latter finally cleans herself, revealing a sparkling aquamarine design. The three continue on down the road and spot the Circus Velocitas. Ivy and Mater are taken in by the sights and sounds while McQueen is revealed to be deftly afraid of clowns. Upon being surrounded by them, they are forced into their seats, where the lack of cars implies that they are in dire straights, and watch them perform. Once again, Ivy and Mater enjoy themselves while McQueen trembles in fear.
The hosts call upon a volunteer and, despite Mater suggesting McQueen, Ivy is chosen for a performance. She tells the owners that she has her own idea and has the cars line up. Mater and McQueen are worried that she will smash into them, but to their surprise and awe, Ivy begins to dance and circle around the clown cars. McQueen congratulates Ivy on the performance and she reveals that the circus has asked her to join them. McQueen admits that it is probably for the best and he and Mater bid her goodbye, though promise to meet her again someday.
As they leave, Mater suggests that after the wedding, they can come by the circus again to see how Ivy is doing, though McQueen is still reluctant to see the clowns again. Ivy enjoys her newfound life with the circus.

Trivia[]
- Lightning is revealed to have coulrophobia, a fear of clowns.
- However, Lightning was not afraid of the circus cars in A Bug's Life during the epilogue of Cars.
- Lightning was also not afraid of Red's clown costume during the Halloween seasons at Cars Land.
- Ivy becomes a circus performer.
- At one point, several clown cars hop out of another car's trunk, an obvious gag on several clowns fitting into a small clown car.
- Mae and Kay's relationship is not made clear, but based on Kay uttering "Come on Babe!", and the fact that both Megan Cavanagh and Hayden Bishop are LGBTQ, it can be assumed that they are indeed intended to be a gay couple, though this has yet to be confirmed.
