The Singing Storks are characters, who was featured in the Disney Parks attraction Splash Mountain.
History[]
Development[]
The Singing Storks were created for the now-defunct America Sings attraction at Disneyland in California where she was seen during the attraction's third act, which opened on June 29, 1974. However, America Sings closed on April 10, 1988 in order to retheme the attraction to Innoventions. The Singing Storks and most of the animatronics were moved to Splash Mountain, which opened in the Critter Country area in 1989.
As of 2020, Splash Mountain was announced for closure in order to remove all references to Song of the South due to controversy surrounding the film which the attraction is based on to make way for a Princess and the Frog-themed attraction.
The California version of Splash Mountain permanently closed on May 31, 2023. But one imagineer put a caption on the stork animatronic figure "LP Figure Happy to Enter the Bayou", meaning that they will return for the upcoming attraction, Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Disneyland. However, the idea of them returning to the attraction was scrapped, and they were replaced with Mayra the Frog for the "Dig a Little Deeper" sequence.
Appearances[]
America Sings[]
The Singing Storks were seen riding on penny-farthing along with group of performers on stage singing "Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay" where the Bird in a Gilded Cage and the Tenor Fox participate with them. The scene then loops into the attraction's final act "Modern Times".
Splash Mountain[]
Exclusive to the Disneyland version of Splash Mountain, the Singing Storks appeared during the "Everybody's Got a Laughing Place" sequence, while they were singing with the other critters during the sequence in Rainbow Hollow.
